Firaxis Confirms New Civilization Game, XCOM's Jake Solomon Leaving The Studio

Firaxis Confirms New Civilization Game, XCOM's Jake Solomon Leaving The Studio

Take-Two Interactive has announced a major shakeup at Firaxis Games, including a new studio head and the exits of two notable leaders. On top of that, the publisher revealed that the developer is now working on the next entry in the Civilization franchise. Heather Hazen is taking over as studio head at Firaxis, replacing Steve Martin, who is leaving after 25 years with the team. He didn't provide a comment on his departure, but 2K President David Ismailer said he was "deeply grateful" to Martin. Meanwhile, Hazen has been chief operating officer at the developer since 2020. Before that, she served as executive producer on Fortnite, Plants vs. Zombies, and Bejeweled (at Epic and PopCap, respectively). "I'm lucky to be working with some of the best developers in our industry, and we have plans to take the Civilization franchise to exciting new heights for our millions of players around the world," Hazen said. "In addition, we will continue to support Marvel's Midnight Suns with post-launch content and explore new creative projects for our teams."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania Post-Credits Scenes Explained

Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania Post-Credits Scenes Explained

The Ant-Man movies haven't been the box office juggernauts that many of the other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have, but Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania nonetheless has quite a weight on its shoulders. The little series that could is kicking off the MCU's newest phase and announces the arrival of a new main villain for the entire franchise: Kang the Conqueror. Warning: The following contains Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania spoilers. If you haven't seen the movie and wish to remain unspoiled, stop reading now. That being the case, Quantumania doesn't quite take the standard Marvel approach with its mid-credits and post-credits scenes. Typically, one of these scenes (the mid-credits) will be some sort of tease for the future, while the other is more of a funny gag. In Ant-Man & the Wasp, for example, the mid-credits scene showed Scott Lang getting trapped in the Quantum Realm while his family was snapped by Thanos, and the post-credits scene was a jokey clip of a giant ant playing drums.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Wild Hearts: 6 Ways It's Different From Monster Hunter

Wild Hearts: 6 Ways It's Different From Monster Hunter

Wild Hearts could end up being the first truly exceptional Monster Hunter rival. There have been other games that have tried to mimic the feel, and ostensibly the success, of the Monster Hunter series, but as it turns out, that’s not an easy thing to manage. The good news is that Wild Hearts has managed it somehow, and it’s a game that’ll feel a bit comfortable for long-time fans of monster-hunting. It is, however, surprisingly different in some incredibly cool ways. If you’re wondering what to expect, then you’re in luck, because we’ve decided to talk about some of the notable differences. More integrated monster design Even before we get to gameplay, there’s one huge difference between Monster Hunter and Wild Hearts, and it lies in how the monsters feel. In Monster Hunter, the beasts you’ll be battling are dragons, or giant sabertooth cats, or horrifying armadillos. They’re all inspired by natural animals, but they’re also just kind of there. There’s not always anything tying them to the environments they’re in. Wild Hearts has kemono instead of monsters, and the design of them makes them feel as though they’re part of the scenery itself. A lot of monsters are part plant, and they often fit with their environments as though they’d climbed out of the ground itself. It’s a nice touch that makes each one of them feel as though they belong, but you don’t.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Wild Hearts - How To Get Rid Of Vines

Wild Hearts - How To Get Rid Of Vines

Wild Hearts vines are an early-game obstacle that you’ll find guarding the entrance to a few small caves as you move through the game. It's highly likely that you’ll try a few different things to get rid of them, but it doesn’t matter how much you slash, bonk, or shoot at them; they’re not going anywhere. It’s rare to come across an obstacle you can’t just force your way through in Wild Hearts, but the game does like to make sure you actually utilize the wide range of absurd karakuri you can conjure. That’s what you need to do here, but you need a specific karakuri to get the job done. How to get rid of Wild Hearts vines To destroy Wild Hearts vines, you’re going to need to use fire. Unless you’re modding to add Molotov cocktails to your arsenal, you’ll need to get your hands on the torch karakuri in order to gain this ability. The torch is a simple device that you place on the ground, and then upon approaching it your character will attack through the flames to imbue their weapon with flames.Continue Reading at GameSpot

MLB The Show 23 Adds Universal DH, True Two-Way Players, And More

MLB The Show 23 held a 40-minute livestream this week to introduce some of the game's new features. As well as touching on the game's historic Negro Leagues Storylines mode, the stream also revealed a number of highly anticipated new features including universal DH and true two-way players. One of the new rule changes fans have been waiting for is the introduction of the universal designate hitter. The rule came to the National League in April last year, too late to be implemented in MLB The Show 22, but will have a presence in this year's game. "The MLB got the universal DH just last season, so now we got it in Diamond Dynasty as well," senior technical designer Kyle Blake announced in the stream. "So any squad you play with in Diamond Dynasty has a DH."Continue Reading at GameSpot
