George Miller Would Love To Direct Thor 5 With Chris Hemsworth

Later this month, Chris Hemsworth will be back on the big screen as Dementus, the primary villain of Furiosa: A Mad Max Story. Director George Miller cast Hemsworth in the role opposite Anya Taylor-Joy's Furiosa, and he greatly enjoyed working with the actor who is best known for playing Marvel's Thor. And when asked if he would possibly reunite with Hemsworth on Thor 5, Miller said he would be up for it.

"I would work with Chris on anything," Miller told Comic Book. "I really would. He's a wonderful actor. He's got the full range of all the skills. I mean, you've got to be athletic, physically. But, you also gotta be athletic emotionally and intellectually to take on these very, ultimately fairly complex, any role really. So, I was very lucky with all my cast and particularly in the way that Anya and Chris matched each other."

Marvel doesn't currently have Thor 5 on its release schedule, although the end credits in Thor: Love and Thunder confirmed that Thor will return at some point. Disney World's Splash Mountain Replacement, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Opens In June And It Smells Good

Tiana's Bayou Adventure, the ride that replaces Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World, will open on June 28, it has been announced. The ride closed for good in January 2023 as part of an effort to redesign the iconic water ride after it was criticized for stereotypes about black people and the glamorization of the American South after the civil war. Water from the original ride hit eBay for more than $150.

Functionally, Tiana's Bayou Adventure is similar to Splash Mountain in that guests will ride a boat through a dark area before plummeting five stories down into the water with a big splash. Tiana's Bayou Adventure will feature characters from Princess and the Frog, including Princess Tiana, Mama Odie, Louis, and "all-new friends." The ride will feature jazz music and aims to capture the essence of a "New Orleans celebration." It also has Disney's newest impressive animatronics, which you can see below.

The ride features cute critters like an otter, rabbit, raccoon, beaver, and others who are playing instruments made of natural materials local to the bayou. Why PUBG Is Bringing Back Its Original Map--Warts And All

The PUBG that took the video game industry by storm in 2017 is coming back for a limited time with the Erangel Classic event. Officially known today as PUBG: Battlegrounds, the battle royale that birthed a frenzied race to dominate the genre is looking to its storied past unlike ever before. From May 14-28 on PC, and May 23-June 6 on consoles, the original version of Erangel, the game's first and, to this day, most beloved map, will be free for all players.

It seems the battle royale genre is now old enough to elicit nostalgia among its players as PUBG is not the first to do this--Fortnite OG saw the game's original map return for a few weeks at the end of 2023, and the original versions of Call of Duty and Apex Legends' oldest maps have returned at different times over recent years, too.

Sorry, There's Probably No New Sly Cooper Game Coming Soon

Sucker Punch Productions' iconic platforming franchise, Sly Cooper, probably isn't getting a brand-new game any time soon.

Bloomberg's Jason Schreier responded to a rumor going around that the reason why an unannounced Ghost of Tsushima sequel has yet to be revealed was because the studio was working on a new Sly Cooper again. He said that there was no basis to the rumor, and that Sucker Punch was a "one project studio," meaning that they reportedly don't work on multiple games at once. Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb also said that the rumor was only speculation and nothing had been confirmed.

Furthermore, video games take much longer to development now, so it's not a surprise when a game that a big AAA hasn't been publicly revealed just yet. Turn-based RPGs aren't nearly as prevalent as they once were, but when you find one that nails the charming loop of hits from the genre's heyday, it's a nostalgic treat to be savored. Sea of Stars is a prime example of just that, and fans of the genre can finally grab a physical edition of last summer's buzzy turn-based RPG. Orlando Bloom Reveals The Movie He Didn't Want To Make

Actor Orlando Bloom has said he didn't want to be in the 2004 movie Troy, in which he played the role of one of the main characters, Paris. Speaking to Variety, Bloom said many people love the film-- which also stars Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Brian Cox, Sean Bean, Brendan Gleeson, Peter O'Toole, and Diane Kruger--but he doesn't have fond memories of making it.

Nintendo Switch Is Shutting Down Twitter Integration Next Month

Nintendo is discontinuing the Switch's integration with Twitter on June 10. This means players will no longer be able to post screenshots directly from their Switch.

On Nintendo's FAQ page, the company provided more details on the changes. Some specific games, such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and both Splatoon 2 and 3, will be impacted. In Super Smash Bros., the ability to post from the Switch's album to Smash World in the Nintendo Switch Online smart device app will be removed.

Arkane Austin Was Pitching Immersive Sim Prior To Closure, More Cuts At Xbox Coming - Report

Prior to Arkane Austin's closure earlier this week, the studio was reportedly pitching a new single-player immersive sim game. Additionally, more cuts at Xbox are apparently still to come.

According to Bloomberg, Arkane Austin wanted to return to its development roots and possibly revisit the Dishonored series to create a new entry. Max Price Hike Coming, Along With Potential Layoffs At WBD - Report

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is reportedly looking for even more ways to cut costs and make more money, and this could include a price hike for Max and additional layoffs. Bloomberg reported these details and more ahead of WBD's earnings briefing on May 9.

WBD has already cut more than 2,000 jobs in the past year, though the scale and timing of any future cuts is unknown. The report also said WBD might look to slash "hundreds of millions of dollars" from the company's streaming division, mostly in marketing and technology.

The newest patches for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Warzone have arrived, fixing some key issues that were introduced in the recent Season 3 Reloaded update.

Specifically, this update fixes an issue pertaining to sprinting. After the Season 3 Reloaded update went live, players noticed that when using the Commando Gloves perk, reloads became canceled when running with automatic tactical-sprint. However, this bug is now fixed.

The update also fixes an issue on the Skidgrow map that previously allowed players to reach an "exploitable location" on the roof. Next Battlefield Has Biggest Team In Franchise History Working On It

Go big or go home, and EA has apparently chosen the former for the Battlefield franchise. Company CEO Andrew Wilson has revealed that the FPS series is now being worked on by "the largest Battlefield team in franchise history."

Spotted by Eurogamer, Wilson discussed what's next for Battlefield earlier this week during EA's financial report for the end of the company's fiscal year 2024. "Our teams have listened to the community, have learned valuable lessons, and are driving to the future," Wilson said. "Motive, armed with cutting-edge Frostbite technology and compelling storytelling, is joining DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect to build a Battlefield universe across connected multiplayer and single-player experiences."

The Elder Scrolls Online Director Calls It "One Of The Successful Live-Service Games" With $2 Billion In Revenue

There are many live-service games out there, and some of them are quietly raking in millions (or even billions) of dollars without much fanfare. According to ZeniMax Online studio director Matt Firor, The Elder Scrolls Online is one of those games, and he pointed to its $2 billion in cumulative consumer spend (first announced at this year's GDC) as evidence of this.

Barbie Company Mattel's Matchbox Movie Reportedly Brings On Extraction Director

Following the huge success of Barbie, Mattel Films is making a movie based on its line of Matchbox toy cars, and now a director has come aboard.

Sam Hargrave, who directed Netflix's Extraction movies starring Chris Hemsworth, has inked a deal to make the Matchbox movie, according to Deadline. Skydance and Mattel Films are producing the movie together.

Nintendo Switch Sales Slide As Console Enters Its Eighth Year

The Nintendo Switch is entering its eighth year of existence, and while sales remain somewhat steady, overall sales of both hardware and software on the console declined year-on-year from fiscal year 2023 to 2024. That's according to a recent financial report from Nintendo, which broke down the company's performance on a number of levels.

As one slide of the presentation shows, sales of Nintendo Switch hardware declined by 12.6% year-on-year from 17.97 million to 15.70 million, driven primarily by a 37.1% decrease in the amount of vanilla Switches sold. However, the OLED Nintendo Switch slightly increased its sales by 1.1%. Software sales also declined from 213.96 million to 199.67 million, a decrease of 6.7%.

Nintendo Switch Successor Will Be Revealed By April 2025

Nintendo has announced that the successor for the Switch will be revealed within this fiscal year, which ends in April 2025.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa took to the Nintendo's Japanese Twitter account, saying, "We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015."

Ryan Reynolds Reveals His Rejected Deadpool 3 Movie Pitches

Before Ryan Reynolds settled on the idea to make Deadpool and Wolverine a team-up film with those two main characters, the actor pitched numerous other ideas that never got off the ground. Reynolds told Empire that one of his first ideas was to create a Rashomon-style movie about Deadpool and Wolverine about an adventure the pair shared, but told from "three completely different perspectives."

Marvel boss Kevin Feige, however, said no, in part because he himself wasn't sure what the best approach would be for Deadpool as a Disney property following the company's acquisition of the character. "The truth is, I wasn't even sure how to incorporate Deadpool yet," Feige said. "I was very much thinking about how to bring mutants and the X-Men into [the MCU], and I thought it needed to be more than just playing the hits. But the truth is, Ryan is an idea machine."

Rashomon, a 1950 film from legendary director Akira Kurosawa, told its story from multiple perspectives, and Reynolds was thinking of something similar originally for the next Deadpool film. Revenge Leads To The Dark Side In Star Wars: The Acolyte's New Trailer

So far, the biggest mystery surrounding Star Wars: The Acolyte is why a former Padawan learner has become so hell-bent on getting revenge on the Jedi that she's trying to murder them one-by-one. A younger version of Mae (Amandla Stenberg) was briefly glimpsed as a child in the first trailer for The Acolyte, but the newly released video shows more of her rampage. That's why Mae's former mentor, Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), resolves to confront her alone.

Since Mae is wielding knives instead of a red lightsaber, it suggests that she isn't affiliated with the Sith... at least not yet. In one of the most intriguing scenes from the new trailer, a masked member of the Sith confronts several Jedi. However, there aren't any additional clues as to who this Sith is, and if they are a master or an apprentice.

Astronauts Will Watch Top Gun: Maverick On Their Way To Boeing's Starliner Launchpad

After years of delays, it seems that Boeing's Starliner capsule is finally ready for launch at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Liftoff is scheduled for 7:34 PM PT / 10:34 PM ET--the moment Earth's rotation will position the launchpad into alignment with the International Space Station's (ISS) orbit. But before Boeing's crew hits the launch pad, they'll be experiencing one of Earth's favorite pastimes: Watching movies. Specifically, watching Top Gun: Maverick.

While astronauts traveling to the ISS va SpaceX's Dragon capsule typically reach the launchpad while riding in a Tesla, Boeing's crew will get there via a "more traditional astrovan" equipped with a video screen that will play Top Gun: Maverick. It's likely that the highly rated film was chosen by the crew themselves.The Starliner's name was likely inspired by Boeing's luxury 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

If successful, this launch will carry mission commander Barry "Butch" Wilmore and co-pilot Sunita Williams on a test-drive of the Starliner capsule--its first piloted flight. Both Williams and Wilmore are former Navy test pilots and experienced astronauts, with a combined four spaceflights, 11 spacewalks, and 500 days spent in orbit between them, along with trips to space via the now-defunct Space Shuttle Program and Russia's Soyuz, a sort of space-taxi that functioned as the main mode of transport to the ISS before the introduction of SpaceX's Dragon capsule, which flew its first crewed flight in May 2020. If all goes as planned, the Starliner--likely named after Boeing's luxury 787 Dreamliner aircraft--will join the Soyuz and Dragon as a new way to taxi astronauts to and from the ISS. State Of Decay 2, More Xbox Cloud Games Getting Mouse And Keyboard Support

Xbox Insiders can now try to survive the zombie apocalypse with a mouse and keyboard for State of Decay 2 on Xbox Cloud Gaming. The open-world survival title is one of 14 games getting the additional input support on the service.

Spotted by Windows Central, other notable games also receiving mouse and keyboard support on Xbox Cloud include Quake 2, Terraria, and Slime Rancher 2. Keep in mind that so far this added functionality is only "for users enrolled in the PC Gaming Preview," per the Xbox Support page.

It was almost two years ago when Microsoft officially announced mouse and keyboard support was on the way for Xbox Cloud Gaming. Prime Video's new Fallout TV series has seen a renewed wave of interest in the Fallout game series, including the question of when we'll see the next mainline Fallout game. While Fallout 5 has been confirmed to be in development, Todd Howard has said in an interview that he's reluctant to put even a rough date on future releases.

Apple's New Rules Mean There's A Game Emulator On The App Store Now

Earlier this month, Apple relaxed its famously strict App Store guidelines to comply with the EU's new Digital Markets Act. In one major change, game emulators will now be allowed on the App Store, and one developer has immediately taken advantage of the change to publish Delta--a self-described "all-in-one Nintendo emulator."

Delta's App Store page describes it as an "an all-in-one emulator for iOS," which "builds upon the strengths of its predecessor, GBA4iOS, while expanding to include support for more game systems such as NES, SNES, N64, and DS." The emulator's description also promises emulation support for more consoles will be on the way.

Homeworld 3 Is Getting A Lot Of Post-Launch Content, Both Free And Paid

Gearbox has revealed the post-launch roadmap for Homeworld 3, and there's a lot of content for the game coming just in its first year.

For the game's post-launch support, Gearbox will alternate between both free and paid DLC. In June, the first update is a free content drop that will add new challenges and artifacts. July will have paid DLC with a new playable faction, new faction starting fleets, a new faction emblem, and even more artifacts and challenges.

Fallout's Jonathan Nolan Says Aaron Paul Is A Big Fan Of The Show, Could He Be In Season 2?

Fallout TV show executive producer Jonathan Nolan has said "so many people" have reached out about the TV series, including actor Aaron Paul. Asked by IGN if any of his famous celebrity friends reached out to him after Fallout debuted and asked if they could be in Season 2, Nolan mentioned Paul.

"Aaron Paul was at the premiere, a human being I love so much. And he was very polite. He was very enthusiastic about the show. There was sort of an unspoken kind of like, 'What's up, man?' But we've been hearing from so many people, and it's kind of fun to see the Fallout fans come out of the woodwork," Nolan said. "People you've known a long time and you realize, 'Oh, you've been playing this whole time.' So it's been a lot of fun."

The animated series Family Guy debuted in 1999, meaning it celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. But would creator Seth MacFarlane ever consider wrapping it up and moving on? GTA 6 Parent Company To Cancel Games And Lay Off 5% Of Staff

After saying earlier this year that its impending cost reduction program wouldn't include layoffs, GTA parent company Take-Two has revealed that it will be cutting its workforce by approximately 5% throughout this year. The company also said it would be cancelling some unspecified projects as part of the cost reductions.

According to a filing with the United States SEC, the Take-Two board of directors has just approved its cost reduction plan. The plan will focus on "eliminating several projects in development and streamlining its organizational structure, which will eliminate headcount and reduce future hiring needs."

Take-Two estimates that enacting the plan will cost it around $160 to $200 million, with costs relating to title cancellations, employee severance, and reductions in the company's office space. CoD: Warzone And MW3 Patch Notes Detail MORS Optic Fix And More Guns For MP Ranked Play

The latest Call of Duty update arrived to Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone on April 16. The patch notes include weapon balancing across both games, and multiplayer's Ranked Play mode gets new weapon options for a limited time.

On the multiplayer side, the MTZ-556 assault rifle received a 6% buff to bullet velocity, and the Holger 556 now has adjusted recoil and gun kick to allow for a more predictable recoil pattern. Fallout Games See A Massive Player Boost After Show's Release

Amazon Prime Video's Fallout TV show has re-ignited fans' interest in the series, with player-numbers for Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and even Fallout: New Vegas showing a massive increase since the series premiered on April 10.

Industry analyst Mat Piscatella shared the game stats on Twitter, showing how multiple Fallout games had shot up in Steam's daily active user rankings between April 7 and April 14--before and after the show aired. Fallout 4 moved up from 63rd to fourth, Fallout 76 moved from 54th to seventh, and even Fallout: New Vegas was up there, from 83rd to 10th place.

Nintendo has confirmed that it is skipping Gamescom 2024. This breaks with tradition, as Nintendo had consistently participated in the event in the past.

"Gamescom is a great event, and each year we evaluate whether Nintendo should participate or not," Nintendo UK told Eurogamer. "After careful consideration from all perspectives, we've made the decision not to be present at Gamescom 2024. Players will have opportunities to try out Nintendo Switch games at other events throughout the year."

It's unclear why Nintendo decided to pull out of the Gamescom 2024. The announcement to skip comes amid rumors that the Nintendo Switch successor will be released within the next year. In recent years, Nintendo has announced its latest hardware during its own dedicated events. Whether the decision to skip Gamescom this year will be a one-time thing or a reoccurring one is unknown. Dragon Age TV Series Is A "Terrible Idea," Says Game Series Creator

With Amazon Prime's Fallout show becoming the talk of the town, people are brainstorming about what other classic gaming franchises they'd love to see transition to a TV series. Dragon Age creator David Gaider has a couple of ideas, but they don't include his own RPG fantasy series.

In fact, Gaider stated on X (formerly known as Twitter) that a Dragon Age TV series is a "terrible idea." Instead, the writer behind the Dragon Age trilogy would like "to see a David Lynch-style (on acid) Disco Elysium" show adapation "or maybe Banishers." A Disco Elysium TV series was announced be in the works back in 2020. Meanwhile, for those unaware about the latter suggestion, the action-RPG comes from Life Is Strange developer Don't Nod. Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk Recalls Medic's Words After His Heart Attack

It's been almost three years since actor Bob Odenkirk had his heart attack on the set of Better Call Saul. The Emmy-winning actor made a full recovery, it scared his family and fans worldwide, but also someone else: the on-set medic.

The star collapsed on the set of Better Call Saul in New Mexico on July 28, 2021, and was rushed to the hospital. Days later, he described the incident as a "small heart attack." Odenkirk recalled what happened in a recent interview with the Multiple Talking Women podcast, saying the medic froze after he slumped down and his heart was beginning to fail.

Fallout 76 Hits A New Concurrent Player Record On Steam

War never changes, but concurrent player counts do for video games. For Fallout 76, the numbers are going up, as the action-RPG set a new all-time record over the weekend on Steam.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), user CHAD: A Fallout 76 Podcast spotted that Fallout 76 had reached a new milestone, with 39,455 people playing the online RPG at the same time on Steam on Sunday, April 14, per SteamDB. That's the most players together for the Steam version of the title since it launched on the service in April 2020. Fallout 76 originally came out in open beta in October 2018 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

There are two major factors helping Fallout 76. First off, Amazon Prime's Fallout show premiered last week to generally favorable reviews across the board.
