George Miller Would Love To Direct Thor 5 With Chris Hemsworth

George Miller Would Love To Direct Thor 5 With Chris Hemsworth

Later this month, Chris Hemsworth will be back on the big screen as Dementus, the primary villain of Furiosa: A Mad Max Story. Director George Miller cast Hemsworth in the role opposite Anya Taylor-Joy's Furiosa, and he greatly enjoyed working with the actor who is best known for playing Marvel's Thor. And when asked if he would possibly reunite with Hemsworth on Thor 5, Miller said he would be up for it.

"I would work with Chris on anything," Miller told Comic Book. "I really would. He's a wonderful actor. He's got the full range of all the skills. I mean, you've got to be athletic, physically. But, you also gotta be athletic emotionally and intellectually to take on these very, ultimately fairly complex, any role really. So, I was very lucky with all my cast and particularly in the way that Anya and Chris matched each other."

Marvel doesn't currently have Thor 5 on its release schedule, although the end credits in Thor: Love and Thunder confirmed that Thor will return at some point. Hemsworth recently shared his belief that he was to blame for Love and Thunder's lackluster reception among the fans.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Jar Jar Binks Actor Ahmed Best Has "Jedi John Wick" Star Wars Movie Idea

Jar Jar Binks Actor Ahmed Best Has "Jedi John Wick" Star Wars Movie Idea

Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best wants to go in a different direction within a galaxy far, far away. In fact, he wants to take his new Star Wars character, Kelleran Beq, and become "Jedi John Wick" in a movie.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Best threw out his pitch for this presumably violent Star Wars project. "I want to do a Jedi John Wick as Kelleran Beq," said the actor. "And I don't even need to say any words. I just want to do two hours of lightsabers and people in the way."

Best is known for portraying Jar Jar in The Phantom Menace and is proud of his Star Wars legacy--even though it's been "painful" in the past, too. However, last year, Best got to appear in a shocking cameo as Jedi Kelleran Beq for The Mandalorian. This small taste of on-screen action for the Jedi, who actually originated from Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, has given Best ideas of what Beq could do with a larger role.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Disney World's Splash Mountain Replacement, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Opens In June And It Smells Good

Disney World's Splash Mountain Replacement, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Opens In June And It Smells Good

Tiana's Bayou Adventure, the ride that replaces Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World, will open on June 28, it has been announced. The ride closed for good in January 2023 as part of an effort to redesign the iconic water ride after it was criticized for stereotypes about black people and the glamorization of the American South after the civil war. Water from the original ride hit eBay for more than $150.

Functionally, Tiana's Bayou Adventure is similar to Splash Mountain in that guests will ride a boat through a dark area before plummeting five stories down into the water with a big splash. Tiana's Bayou Adventure will feature characters from Princess and the Frog, including Princess Tiana, Mama Odie, Louis, and "all-new friends." The ride will feature jazz music and aims to capture the essence of a "New Orleans celebration." It also has Disney's newest impressive animatronics, which you can see below.

The ride features cute critters like an otter, rabbit, raccoon, beaver, and others who are playing instruments made of natural materials local to the bayou. The music will be a blend of Zydeco, Rara, and Afro-Cuban tunes, as well as new, original music and songs from the movie.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Why PUBG Is Bringing Back Its Original Map--Warts And All

Why PUBG Is Bringing Back Its Original Map--Warts And All

The PUBG that took the video game industry by storm in 2017 is coming back for a limited time with the Erangel Classic event. Officially known today as PUBG: Battlegrounds, the battle royale that birthed a frenzied race to dominate the genre is looking to its storied past unlike ever before. From May 14-28 on PC, and May 23-June 6 on consoles, the original version of Erangel, the game's first and, to this day, most beloved map, will be free for all players.

It seems the battle royale genre is now old enough to elicit nostalgia among its players as PUBG is not the first to do this--Fortnite OG saw the game's original map return for a few weeks at the end of 2023, and the original versions of Call of Duty and Apex Legends' oldest maps have returned at different times over recent years, too.

We caught up with PUBG: Battlegrounds' in-game production director, Taehyun Kim, to learn what the team hopes to achieve with Erangel Classic, how it balances nostalgia with quality-of-life improvements, and whether any other map might enjoy a similar blast from the past. He also offered tips to new players who may jump in with the odds stacked against them as they stare down level-500 veterans.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Sorry, There's Probably No New Sly Cooper Game Coming Soon

Sucker Punch Productions' iconic platforming franchise, Sly Cooper, probably isn't getting a brand-new game any time soon.

Bloomberg's Jason Schreier responded to a rumor going around that the reason why an unannounced Ghost of Tsushima sequel has yet to be revealed was because the studio was working on a new Sly Cooper again. He said that there was no basis to the rumor, and that Sucker Punch was a "one project studio," meaning that they reportedly don't work on multiple games at once. Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb also said that the rumor was only speculation and nothing had been confirmed.

Furthermore, video games take much longer to development now, so it's not a surprise when a game that a big AAA hasn't been publicly revealed just yet. Schreier also noted that Sucker Punch is a smaller developer compared to your average AAA studio, such as Ubisoft or Activision.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Gatchaman: The Complete Collection Gets Discounted To Its Best Price Yet

Gatchaman: The Complete Collection Gets Discounted To Its Best Price Yet

One of the most groundbreaking anime of all time, Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, recently got a terrific Blu-ray release. Here in the west, you might know the show by its alternate names, Battle of the Planets and G-Force. Debuting in the '70s, this was a fun and surprisingly bleak series with hard-fought victories against various monsters. In case you missed it, you can pick up the entire 105-episode run at Amazon for $65, a huge discount from its original $150 launch price.Gatchaman: The Complete Series See on Amazon

Normally $77, this collection includes 15 discs of episodes, original video animations, and the Gatchaman movie. Most of the discs feature the incredibly realistic art of comic book legend Alex Ross, and one disc is dedicated to extra features. All episodes are available in their original 4:3 aspect ratio--and mercifully--these aren't the infamously edited versions that were broadcast in the US. Gatchaman may have had a formulaic monster-of-the-week setup as a team of bird-themed heroes took on an evil organization, but it helped popularize the Sentai genre of TV.

Thanks to shows like Gatchaman, the foundation for series like Power Rangers would established. While the main plot was pure anime fun, Gatchaman would also see characters frequently die on both sides, with the bleakness of these violent battles being reflected in the gritty artwork. Final Fantasy illustrator Yoshitaka Amano was responsible for the terrific character designs and Mitsuki Nakamura's mecha designs have proven to be elegantly timeless over the decades.Continue Reading at GameSpot

The Magic Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom One Year Later Is In Experimentation

The Magic Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom One Year Later Is In Experimentation

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is celebrating its one-year anniversary today, May 12, 2024. Below, we look at how its playful sense of experimentation is still leading to new discoveries.

There is no single file for "wagon noise" within The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. At no point in your travels throughout Hyrule will you hear a single track that was meant to replicate the sound of creaking wood moving along a dirt path. That's because Tears of the Kingdom's audio system is designed to operate just like its complex physics system. Sounds that happen naturally in the world--wheels turning and hooves stomping, for example--come together just like the wheels and cart themselves. They create a harmonious sound that is made up as you play.

It's a charming example that highlights what makes pretty much everything within Tears of the Kingdom fantastic. Major elements of the game, from moment-to-moment exploration to the clever physics-based crafting system, encourages player-experimentation and provides an amount of freedom that's literally sky-high. For much of their adventure, players make things up as they go.Continue Reading at GameSpot

* Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes -- $38 ($50)
* Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Digital Deluxe Edition -- $63.19 ($80)

"Overall, Eiyuden Chronicle hits the retro-RPG sweet spot nicely. It's focused on delivering that warm, comforting feeling of a classic JRPG, and even all of the side distractions--the card minigame, the weird Pokemon/Beyblade hybrid top minigame, the raising/racing sim, even commodities trading--don't distract too much from the game's prime mission," Heidi Kemps wrote in GameSpot's Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes review. "Add some gorgeously painted and animated spritework and a stellar soundtrack into the mix, and you've got a delightful experience that sometimes falters, though not enough to make you put it down."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Physical Edition Of One Of the Best Turn-Based RPGs Of 2023 Is Now Available

Turn-based RPGs aren't nearly as prevalent as they once were, but when you find one that nails the charming loop of hits from the genre's heyday, it's a nostalgic treat to be savored. Sea of Stars is a prime example of just that, and fans of the genre can finally grab a physical edition of last summer's buzzy turn-based RPG. At $40, the physical edition is slightly more expensive than the digital edition ($35), but it also comes with a double-sided poster.

One of the best RPGs of 2023, the physical version of Sea of Stars was put together by the retro specialists at iam8bit and comes with the aforementioned double-sided poster. A $45 Nintendo Switch-exclusive edition with alternate cover art and some extra goodies was previously available to order via iam8Bit's store. Unfortunately, that version sold out quickly, and it's easy to see why: It came with a game manual, collectible slipcase, four sticker sheets, and the complete soundtrack.

The edition that's available now at major retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, is for all console platforms: Nintendo Switch, Xbox (backwards compatible), PS5, and PS4 (backwards compatible).Continue Reading at GameSpot

Orlando Bloom Reveals The Movie He Didn't Want To Make

Actor Orlando Bloom has said he didn't want to be in the 2004 movie Troy, in which he played the role of one of the main characters, Paris. Speaking to Variety, Bloom said many people love the film-- which also stars Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Brian Cox, Sean Bean, Brendan Gleeson, Peter O'Toole, and Diane Kruger--but he doesn't have fond memories of making it.

"For me playing that character was just like [slits throat]. Am I allowed to say all of these things? I didn't want to do the movie. I didn't want to play this character," he said.

Bloom said the movie was great, but he didn't understand how he was supposed to play his character. "It was completely against everything I felt in my being. At one point it says Paris crawls along the floor having been beaten by somebody and holds his brother's leg. I was like, 'I'm not going to be able to do this.' One of my agents at the time said, 'But that’s the moment that will make it!' And I completely fell for that line of an agent."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Arkane Austin Was Pitching Immersive Sim Prior To Closure, More Cuts At Xbox Coming - Report

Prior to Arkane Austin's closure earlier this week, the studio was reportedly pitching a new single-player immersive sim game. Additionally, more cuts at Xbox are apparently still to come.

According to Bloomberg, Arkane Austin wanted to return to its development roots and possibly revisit the Dishonored series to create a new entry. Xbox executive Matt Booty and ZeniMax boss Jill Braff reportedly suggested that the reason for Xbox's recent studio closures was due to them needing additional staff to pitch new projects. The cuts are not done, according to the report, with a focus on reducing costs likely leading to more job losses.

Furthermore, Booty reportedly claimed Redfall's poor critical and commercial reception wasn't connected to Arkane Austin's shutdown. Braff also reportedly said that the shuttering of studios would help divert resources to Bethesda's bigger franchises such as Fallout and Doom.Continue Reading at GameSpot

The Elder Scrolls Online Director Calls It "One Of The Successful Live-Service Games" With $2 Billion In Revenue

There are many live-service games out there, and some of them are quietly raking in millions (or even billions) of dollars without much fanfare. According to ZeniMax Online studio director Matt Firor, The Elder Scrolls Online is one of those games, and he pointed to its $2 billion in cumulative consumer spend (first announced at this year's GDC) as evidence of this.

"ESO isn't often talked about as one of the successful live-service games," Firor told GamesRadar in a recent interview. "But it is, it very much is on just about every level." He further said that the studio revealed the $2 billion stat was intended "mostly to shine a light on the game."

"I think the [figure] just just just shows the commitment that the players have to the game and also that we at Zenimax Online have," he continued. "It's hugely successful, and we love working on it."Continue Reading at GameSpot

The Nintendo Switch is entering its eighth year of existence, and while sales remain somewhat steady, overall sales of both hardware and software on the console declined year-on-year from fiscal year 2023 to 2024. As one slide of the presentation shows, sales of Nintendo Switch hardware declined by 12.6% year-on-year from 17.97 million to 15.70 million, driven primarily by a 37.1% decrease in the amount of vanilla Switches sold. Ryan Reynolds Reveals His Rejected Deadpool 3 Movie Pitches

Before Ryan Reynolds settled on the idea to make Deadpool and Wolverine a team-up film with those two main characters, the actor pitched numerous other ideas that never got off the ground. Reynolds told Empire that one of his first ideas was to create a Rashomon-style movie about Deadpool and Wolverine about an adventure the pair shared, but told from "three completely different perspectives."

Marvel boss Kevin Feige, however, said no, in part because he himself wasn't sure what the best approach would be for Deadpool as a Disney property following the company's acquisition of the character. "The truth is, I wasn't even sure how to incorporate Deadpool yet," Feige said. "I was very much thinking about how to bring mutants and the X-Men into [the MCU], and I thought it needed to be more than just playing the hits. But the truth is, Ryan is an idea machine."

Rashomon, a 1950 film from legendary director Akira Kurosawa, told its story from multiple perspectives, and Reynolds was thinking of something similar originally for the next Deadpool film. That was one of more than a dozen thoughts and ideas that Reynolds brought to the table.Continue Reading at GameSpot

A younger version of Mae (Amandla Stenberg) was briefly glimpsed as a child in the first trailer for The Acolyte, but the newly released video shows more of her rampage. That's why Mae's former mentor, Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), resolves to confront her alone.

Since Mae is wielding knives instead of a red lightsaber, it suggests that she isn't affiliated with the Sith... at least not yet. In one of the most intriguing scenes from the new trailer, a masked member of the Sith confronts several Jedi. However, there aren't any additional clues as to who this Sith is, and if they are a master or an apprentice.

Carrie-Anne Moss leads the rest of the cast as Jedi Master Indara, with Manny Jacinto as Qimir, Dafne Keen as Jecki Lon, Charlie Barnett as Yord Fandar, Jodie Turner-Smith as Mother Aniseya, Rebecca Henderson as Vernestra Rwoh, Joonas Suotamo as Kelnacca, and Abigail Thorn as Ensign Eurus.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Astronauts Will Watch Top Gun: Maverick On Their Way To Boeing's Starliner Launchpad

Astronauts Will Watch Top Gun: Maverick On Their Way To Boeing's Starliner Launchpad

After years of delays, it seems that Boeing's Starliner capsule is finally ready for launch at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Liftoff is scheduled for 7:34 PM PT / 10:34 PM ET--the moment Earth's rotation will position the launchpad into alignment with the International Space Station's (ISS) orbit. But before Boeing's crew hits the launch pad, they'll be experiencing one of Earth's favorite pastimes: Watching movies. Specifically, watching Top Gun: Maverick.

While astronauts traveling to the ISS va SpaceX's Dragon capsule typically reach the launchpad while riding in a Tesla, Boeing's crew will get there via a "more traditional astrovan" equipped with a video screen that will play Top Gun: Maverick. It's likely that the highly rated film was chosen by the crew themselves. The Starliner's name was likely inspired by Boeing's luxury 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

If successful, this launch will carry mission commander Barry "Butch" Wilmore and co-pilot Sunita Williams on a test-drive of the Starliner capsule--its first piloted flight. Both Williams and Wilmore are former Navy test pilots and experienced astronauts, with a combined four spaceflights, 11 spacewalks, and 500 days spent in orbit between them, along with trips to space via the now-defunct Space Shuttle Program and Russia's Soyuz, a sort of space-taxi that functioned as the main mode of transport to the ISS before the introduction of SpaceX's Dragon capsule, which flew its first crewed flight in May 2020. If all goes as planned, the Starliner--likely named after Boeing's luxury 787 Dreamliner aircraft--will join the Soyuz and Dragon as a new way to taxi astronauts to and from the ISS. Unlike SpaceX's Dragon, which splashes into the sea upon returning to Earth, the Starliner uses special airbags to cushion the blow as the craft lands on the ground.Continue Reading at GameSpot

State Of Decay 2, More Xbox Cloud Games Getting Mouse And Keyboard Support

Xbox Insiders can now try to survive the zombie apocalypse with a mouse and keyboard for State of Decay 2 on Xbox Cloud Gaming. The open-world survival title is one of 14 games getting the additional input support on the service.

Spotted by Windows Central, other notable games also receiving mouse and keyboard support on Xbox Cloud include Quake 2, Terraria, and Slime Rancher 2. Keep in mind that so far this added functionality is only "for users enrolled in the PC Gaming Preview," per the Xbox Support page.

It was almost two years ago when Microsoft officially announced mouse and keyboard support was on the way for Xbox Cloud Gaming. This is the second wave of titles, as last month introduced the feature to games like Sea of Thieves, Halo Infinite, and Fortnite. Eventually, the idea is that mouse and keyboard can be used while playing these titles on the cloud on devices like your smartphone or TV, if desired.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Starfield Will Get Some "Really Good" Updates Soon Says Todd Howard

In a recent interview, Todd Howard said that new "really good" updates for Starfield will be announced soon. He shared no other details on what these updates could be.

In conversation with IGN, Howard discussed what Bethseda is working on currently. He said that the primary developmental focus is currently on Elder Scrolls 6, though updates for Fallout 76 continue. He hedged on any specific details about Fallout 5, saying, "I'm going to avoid putting dates on anything." Finally he said that, "we're doing a lot of Starfield work as well. So we have some really good updates that are going to get announced soon for that game."

Xbox will have a showcase in June, so one might be able to expect more details on Starfield updates or DLC then. The most recent Starfield update fixed the game's photo mode, prevented the furniture in players' homes from disappearing, and added many other fixes.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Todd Howard On Fallout 5: "I'm Gonna Avoid Putting Dates On Anything"

Prime Video's new Fallout TV series has seen a renewed wave of interest in the Fallout game series, including the question of when we'll see the next mainline Fallout game. While Fallout 5 has been confirmed to be in development, Todd Howard has said in an interview that he's reluctant to put even a rough date on future releases.

Fallout 4 released back in 2015, marking almost a decade since the series has seen a mainline game, and while Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 5 is in the works, we still have no idea when to actually expect it. Back in 2022, Todd Howard said that Fallout 5 will arrive sometime after Elder Scrolls 6, but when asked if this is still the case in a recent interview with IGN, Howard was reluctant to confirm any kind of timing.

"I'm going to avoid putting dates on anything. I've learned that the hard way," Howard answered. "So obviously, our focus as far as new development right now is Elder Scrolls VI, but that doesn't mean that we're not making plans for other things."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Apple's New Rules Mean There's A Game Emulator On The App Store Now

Apple's New Rules Mean There's A Game Emulator On The App Store Now

Earlier this month, Apple relaxed its famously strict App Store guidelines to comply with the EU's new Digital Markets Act. In one major change, game emulators will now be allowed on the App Store, and one developer has immediately taken advantage of the change to publish Delta--a self-described "all-in-one Nintendo emulator."

Delta's App Store page describes it as an "an all-in-one emulator for iOS," which "builds upon the strengths of its predecessor, GBA4iOS, while expanding to include support for more game systems such as NES, SNES, N64, and DS." The emulator's description also promises emulation support for more consoles will be on the way.

Delta — the app that started it all — is available NOW in the App Store!
Yes, you read that right: our long-rejected game emulator has been approved by Apple themselves 🍎
If you live outside the EU, download now from the App Store — no DMA required
https://t.co/jytQgVJFp9 pic.twitter.com/jIN7Ru2alN — AltStore.io (@altstoreio) April 17, 2024

The Nintendo emulator has been available on iOS through less-official means for some time now, with its developer also providing an app called AltStore that used a workaround for Apple's systems to install apps that weren't allowed to be distributed through the App Store. "Delta of course [was] not allowed in the App Store due to Apple’s stance on emulation," the developer said in a 2019 blog on AltStore.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Fallout's Jonathan Nolan Says Aaron Paul Is A Big Fan Of The Show, Could He Be In Season 2?

Fallout's Jonathan Nolan Says Aaron Paul Is A Big Fan Of The Show, Could He Be In Season 2?

Fallout TV show executive producer Jonathan Nolan has said "so many people" have reached out about the TV series, including actor Aaron Paul. Asked by IGN if any of his famous celebrity friends reached out to him after Fallout debuted and asked if they could be in Season 2, Nolan mentioned Paul.

"Aaron Paul was at the premiere, a human being I love so much. And he was very polite. He was very enthusiastic about the show. There was sort of an unspoken kind of like, 'What's up, man?' But we've been hearing from so many people, and it's kind of fun to see the Fallout fans come out of the woodwork," Nolan said. "People you've known a long time and you realize, 'Oh, you've been playing this whole time.' So it's been a lot of fun."

This doesn't confirm that Paul will show up in a potential Fallout Season 2, but it seems like he might be interested at least. Nolan and Paul have worked together before, as Paul starred on Westworld, which Nolan and his wife Lisa Joy created. Continue Reading at GameSpot

Family Guy Creator Discusses Franchise's 25-Year Legacy And If The Show Will Ever End

The animated series Family Guy debuted in 1999, meaning it celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. But would creator Seth MacFarlane ever consider wrapping it up and moving on? Speaking to The Los Angeles Times, MacFarlane--who is no longer working directly on the show--said he has no plans to call it quits.

"At this point, I don't see a good reason to stop. People still love it. It makes people happy and it funds some good causes," he said. "It's a lot of extraneous cash that you can donate to Rainforest Trust and you can still go out to dinner that night."

In 2019, MacFarlane donated $1 million to the Rainforest Trust to help protect tropical habitats.Continue Reading at GameSpot

GTA 6 Parent Company To Cancel Games And Lay Off 5% Of Staff

After saying earlier this year that its impending cost reduction program wouldn't include layoffs, GTA parent company Take-Two has revealed that it will be cutting its workforce by approximately 5% throughout this year. The company also said it would be cancelling some unspecified projects as part of the cost reductions.

According to a filing with the United States SEC, the Take-Two board of directors has just approved its cost reduction plan. The plan will focus on "eliminating several projects in development and streamlining its organizational structure, which will eliminate headcount and reduce future hiring needs."

Take-Two estimates that enacting the plan will cost it around $160 to $200 million, with costs relating to title cancellations, employee severance, and reductions in the company's office space. The plan is expected to affect around 5% of Take-Two's workforce, approximately 600 employees.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Fallout Games See A Massive Player Boost After Show's Release

Amazon Prime Video's Fallout TV show has re-ignited fans' interest in the series, with player-numbers for Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and even Fallout: New Vegas showing a massive increase since the series premiered on April 10.

Industry analyst Mat Piscatella shared the game stats on Twitter, showing how multiple Fallout games had shot up in Steam's daily active user rankings between April 7 and April 14--before and after the show aired. Fallout 4 moved up from 63rd to fourth, Fallout 76 moved from 54th to seventh, and even Fallout: New Vegas was up there, from 83rd to 10th place.

With Switch 2 Possibly On The Horizon, Nintendo Is Skipping Gamescom 2024

Nintendo has confirmed that it is skipping Gamescom 2024. This breaks with tradition, as Nintendo had consistently participated in the event in the past.

"Gamescom is a great event, and each year we evaluate whether Nintendo should participate or not," Nintendo UK told Eurogamer. "After careful consideration from all perspectives, we've made the decision not to be present at Gamescom 2024. Players will have opportunities to try out Nintendo Switch games at other events throughout the year."

It's unclear why Nintendo decided to pull out of the Gamescom 2024. The announcement to skip comes amid rumors that the Nintendo Switch successor will be released within the next year. In recent years, Nintendo has announced its latest hardware during its own dedicated events. Whether the decision to skip Gamescom this year will be a one-time thing or a reoccurring one is unknown. After all, Nintendo hasn't participated in E3 since 2013, and that show is now permanently canceled.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Dragon Age TV Series Is A "Terrible Idea," Says Game Series Creator

Dragon Age TV Series Is A "Terrible Idea," Says Game Series Creator

With Amazon Prime's Fallout show becoming the talk of the town, people are brainstorming about what other classic gaming franchises they'd love to see transition to a TV series. Dragon Age creator David Gaider has a couple of ideas, but they don't include his own RPG fantasy series.

In fact, Gaider stated on X (formerly known as Twitter) that a Dragon Age TV series is a "terrible idea." Instead, the writer behind the Dragon Age trilogy would like "to see a David Lynch-style (on acid) Disco Elysium" show adapation "or maybe Banishers." A Disco Elysium TV series was announced be in the works back in 2020. Meanwhile, for those unaware about the latter suggestion, the action-RPG comes from Life Is Strange developer Don't Nod. For more, check out GameSpot's Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden review.

I imagine everyone would expect me to say Dragon Age, but that'd be a terrible idea. I want to see a David Lynch-style (on acid) Disco Elysium. Or maybe Banishers.
https://t.co/vljIVHAKKc — David Gaider (@davidgaider) April 15, 2024

Now, what's a bit funny regarding Gaider's feelings about his own series for TV is that Dragon Age has received a TV show adaptation. In December 2022, Netflix launched Dragon Age: Absolution, an animated show that focused on an elf named Miriam and took place after Dragon Age: Inquisition but before the upcoming Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Gaider is no longer working on Dragon Age and currently serves as co-founder at Summerfall Studios, which made Stray Gods.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk Recalls Medic's Words After His Heart Attack

It's been almost three years since actor Bob Odenkirk had his heart attack on the set of Better Call Saul. The Emmy-winning actor made a full recovery, it scared his family and fans worldwide, but also someone else: the on-set medic.

The star collapsed on the set of Better Call Saul in New Mexico on July 28, 2021, and was rushed to the hospital. Days later, he described the incident as a "small heart attack." Odenkirk recalled what happened in a recent interview with the Multiple Talking Women podcast, saying the medic froze after he slumped down and his heart was beginning to fail.

Star Wars Is Returning To Fortnite At The Most Obvious Time

Star Wars content is coming back to Fortnite in May just in time for the Star Wars holiday of May the 4th. A teaser video confirms that the latest Star Wars x Fortnite crossover event begins May 3, but we don't know just yet what content might be included in this newest wave.

Fallout 76 Hits A New Concurrent Player Record On Steam

War never changes, but concurrent player counts do for video games. For Fallout 76, the numbers are going up, as the action-RPG set a new all-time record over the weekend on Steam.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), user CHAD: A Fallout 76 Podcast spotted that Fallout 76 had reached a new milestone, with 39,455 people playing the online RPG at the same time on Steam on Sunday, April 14, per SteamDB. That's the most players together for the Steam version of the title since it launched on the service in April 2020. Fallout 76 originally came out in open beta in October 2018 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

There are two major factors helping Fallout 76. First off, Amazon Prime's Fallout show premiered last week to generally favorable reviews across the board. GameSpot's Fallout series review was also positive, with writer Phil Hornshaw saying: "The show makes a lot of hay from the weird and goofy setting of the game series, and does a great job of filling it with fun, fascinating people."Continue Reading at GameSpot
