Saved By The Bell Reboot Trailer Delivers New Laughs And Old Faces

Saved By The Bell Reboot Trailer Delivers New Laughs And Old Faces

The popular high school comedy Saved by the Bell is making its return next month, with a reboot series on NBCUniversal's Peacock streaming platform. The new trailer has now been released. The new trailer gives us the best look yet at the new Saved by the Bell series. While it is technically a sequel to the original show, with various members of the original cast returning, it's also clear that it's very aware of its status as one of the most iconic teen shows of the early '90. There are several knowing references to the privileged lifestyles of the students at Bayside High, and new star Haskiri Velazquez has inherited the "time out" power that Zack had in the original, to enable her to speak to the audience. And most importantly, it looks like a very funny update. Check the trailer out below: Peacock has released a synopsis for the show. It reads, "When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many underfunded high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the most well-funded schools in the state--including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the privileged Bayside kids (who never have a problem that can't be solved in twenty-two minutes) a much-needed dose of reality."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition Won't Have Ray Tracing On Xbox Series S

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition Won't Have Ray Tracing On Xbox Series S

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 at launch, bringing with it a boosted framerate, 3D audio, some new modes, and Vergil as a playable character. The game will also now have ray tracing--but one next-gen system will miss out. The Devil May Cry Twitter account has released an update about the Xbox Series X/S version of Special Edition, making it clear that the Series S will not, in fact, support ray tracing. The Xbox Series X version of the game will come with Direct X Ray Tracing, which will be made available in a downloadable title update after launch. However, the Series S won't get the same feature, so players opting for the smaller, cheaper Xbox model will miss out. An update on ray tracing for #DevilMayCry 5 Special Edition on Xbox Series X|S. pic.twitter.com/OCRcGRw5bl — Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition (@DevilMayCry) October 27, 2020 The game will have several different performance mode options on both consoles, so you can tweak the experience depending on your preferences. You can only hit 120fps, for instance, with ray-tracing off--in fact, if you want a 4K image and ray tracing, you're limited to 30fps. If you're staying with the PS4 or Xbox One for a while longer, you can still get Vergil as DLC. These changes and additions will not be made available for the PC version.

There Is A Good Reason Why Microsoft Can't Talk About The Bethesda Buyout Just Yet

There Is A Good Reason Why Microsoft Can't Talk About The Bethesda Buyout Just Yet

In September, Microsoft announced one of the biggest gaming acquisitions in history when it revealed its intentions to purchase ZeniMax, and its subsidiary Bethesda, for a cool $7.5 billion. People understandably have a lot of questions about the deal--like if The Elder Scrolls 6 will come to PlayStation 5--and so far, Microsoft has only given vague answers about the future. It turns out there is a very good reason for that. Xbox boss Phil Spencer told GameReactor that he cannot say much of substance about the deal due to legal requirements. Technically speaking, Microsoft has only announced its intention to purchase ZeniMax; the deal to buy the company is not expected to close until early 2021. While Spencer said he does not foresee any issues in the regulatory process to approve the deal, it remains "illegal" for him to discuss specifics right now. "First of all, I would like to say that we haven't acquired ZeniMax. We have announced our intention to acquire ZeniMax. It is going through regulatory approval and we don't see any issues there. We expect early in 2021 the deal will close," he said. "But I say that because I want people to know, I'm not sitting down with Todd Howard and Robert Altman and planning their future. Because I'm currently not allowed to do that, that would be illegal."Continue Reading at GameSpot

James Bond: No Time To Die Won't Go Streaming, As $600 Million Deal Can't Find Buyer

The newest James Bond film, No Time To Die, has been finished and ready to go for months now, but MGM has delayed it numerous times due to COVID-19. A report from Bloomberg stated that MGM pitched the streaming rights to Netflix, Apple, and Amazon, but so far, no deal has been reached, and it sounds like that may never happen. Separately, Variety reported that MGM offered a one-year license for No Time To Die for $600 million. Additionally, MGM is said to have considered releasing the movie on its own through a paid video-on-demand option, similar to how Disney handled Mulan. However, Deadline reported that neither Netflix, Apple, nor Amazon came back to the table with even half of the reported $600 million one-year license fee. Additionally, the site reported that 007 series producer Barbara Broccoli "flatly nixed the deal." Continue Reading at GameSpot

Uncharted Movie: Mark Walhberg Apparently Shows Off Sully And His Glorious Moustache

Leaked photos from the set of the Uncharted movie have already provided a glimpse at Mark Wahlberg's character, Sully, from the video game action film. Now, however, Marky Mark himself has released a video of himself in what appears to be his Sully outfit. The leaked photos from a Berlin shoot in September showed Wahlberg and Nathan Drake actor Tom Holland filming a scene together. However, Wahlberg did not have a moustache in that scene. Perhaps the Uncharted movie will include a storyline about when Sully got his stache. View this post on Instagram 👨🏻😢 A post shared by Mark Wahlberg (@markwahlberg) on Oct 24, 2020 at 5:13pm PDT This video comes just days after the first official images of Tom Holland as Nathan Drake were released. He looks the part, except he's missing Drake's iconic half-tuck fashion statement. Voice actor Nolan North also visited the Uncharted movie set, and there is nice photo of him and Holland.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Pokemon Crown Tundra Steed Guide: Which Steed Is Better?

Pokemon Crown Tundra Steed Guide: Which Steed Is Better?

One of the legends you're tasked with investigating in Pokemon Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra DLC revolves around a brand-new Legendary Pokemon named Calyrex. In ages past, Calyrex was worshipped by the denizens of the Crown Tundra as a king. Over time, however, people's belief in the Pokemon faded, and its powers waned in turn. It falls to you to help restore Calyrex's power, and one of the ways to do that is by reuniting it with its steed. Crown Tundra spoilers follow. Shortly after you meet Calyrex, the Legendary Pokemon asks for your help in locating its loyal steed. As it turns out, this steed is one of two alternate Legendary horse Pokemon: the Ice type Glastrier or the Ghost type Spectrier. Much in the way you could choose which Urshifu your Kubfu evolves into in the Isle of Armor expansion, which steed Calyrex rides is entirely up to you. However, you can only choose one of them, and your choice is permanent, so you'll need to think carefully before you make your decision. How To Choose A Steed After you complete the introductory Dynamax Adventure and earn Dynite Ore, you'll be able to purchase a bag of carrot seeds from the farmer in Freezington, the small village located near the Crown Tundra station. These seeds can be used to grow either an Iceroot Carrot or a Shaderoot Carrot, which in turn will determine which of the two steeds you summon.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Documentary Arcade Dreams Will Explore Over 100 Years Of Gaming History

Arcades have changed dramatically over the last few decades, both in their prevalence and the games within, but their existence goes back much further than that. In the documentary series Arcade Dreams, which is currently raising funds on Kickstarter, Rock Steady Media aims to show how the industry evolved from simple mechanical amusements to advanced video games and VR. "Starting with the mechanical penny arcades of the early 1900s, the documentary series chronicles the evolution of arcade gaming from mechanical marvels through to classic cabinets, crazy rides, and the ultra-immersive VR experiences of today," the creators said in a press release. Though not expected until 2022, director Zach Weddington and his team have already captured hundreds of hours of footage spanning several decades of arcade games, and the series will feature interviews with arcade legends like Gary Stern of Stern Pinball and Eugene Jarvis. Jarvis practically invented the twin-stick shooter with classics like Robotron 2084 and Smash TV. His company Raw Thrills is also responsible for countless modern arcade cabinets.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Sekiro Game Of The Year Edition Trailer Shows Off The Maddening Bosses

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is getting a Game of the Year Edition, and unlike many similar releases, this one is free for existing players and is for a game that actually earned game of the year awards. You only have a few more days to wait until you can play it, and a new trailer shows off the One-Armed Wolf as he clashes with dangerous enemies. On October 28 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice players will be able to download a free update that unlocks the Game of the Year Edition content. This includes previously promised boss challenge modes as well as player records and extra skins. There are actually two different boss challenges included in the update. Reflection of Strength allows you to replay one of your favorite boss fights again, and it's a feature that we'd like to see in From Software's other games instead of having to completely replay a game. Gauntlet of Strength is more of a boss rush mode, pitting you against one boss after another without any extra lives.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Snoop Dogg Has An Xbox Series X Fridge Loaded With Gin And Juice

When the Xbox Series X was first announced, the memes began almost immediately. Its design resembles a PC tower, or at least that appears to be Microsoft's goal, but it also looks like a refrigerator. The company has fully leaned into the joke, however, and presented Snoop Dogg with a working Xbox Series X fridge. In a video deleted from Snoop Dogg's Instagram but saved by deals guru Wario64 on Twitter, the rapper showed off the fridge's design. It features a glowing Xbox logo that looks like the power button on the real console. Inside, Xbox stocked it with an Xbox Series X cake for his birthday, which was earlier this week. There is also gin and juice, for obvious reasons, and even some Xbox necklaces. GTA 5 Online's Halloween Series Offers Horror-Themed Rewards And Discounts

Grand Theft Auto V's Online mode now has updated with its latest list of discounts and bonuses, and this time they're Halloween-themed. The Halloween Bunker Series will hand out triple rewards all week, as are freemode events. These bonuses will last until October 28. The Bunker Series involves three Slasher maps, set in a bunker, silo, and at The Diamond, and each one will offer triple GTA$ and RP this week. There are also doubled rewards in the following adversary modes: * Beast vs. Slasher * Come Out to Play Condemned * Lost vs. Damned * Slasher * Slashers On top of all of that, Nightclubs have triple-boosted daily income this week, making it a great time to build up some cash reserves. Nightclub properties are discounted by 40%, while upgrades and modifications are 30% off, so it's a good week to grow your empire. This week's clothing freebies are a bit more exciting than usual, too--there's an Orange Dot Tech Mask and a Lemon Sports Tracksuit, which looks a bit like the iconic Bruce Lee tracksuit (and even more like the tracksuit from Kill Bill, since the stripes are on the arms rather than the body--but, of course, it all comes back to Lee). Look good for free this week. The Annis S80RR is the free car up for grabs in the Diamond Casino & Resort this week, which is a sleek sportscar that you can nab if you're lucky. Tim Burton Wants To Make An Addams Family TV Show

Tim Burton Wants To Make An Addams Family TV Show

The Addams Family just continues to be creepy, kooky, and fertile ground to revisit. According to Deadline, filmmaker Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Pee-wee's Big Adventure) is developing a new live-action TV series version of the popular satirical black-comedy series about a wealthy family who delight in the macabre. Burton is reportedly seeking to executive produce and direct all episodes of his take on the long-running franchise that dates all the way back to 1938 cartoons created by Charles Addams. Incredibly, the family has come back in new versions for new adventures steadily since the '30s--the most recent being 2019's CGI film simply titled The Addams Family. (There is a sequel in the pipeline due for 2021.) For Burton's version which is still light on details, Smallville developers and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are reportedly attached to serve as head writers and also co-showrunners along with Burton. Netflix is among multiple buyers bidding to be the home for the series, and is also among the frontrunners.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Uncharted Movie Photo Of Tom Holland's Nathan Drake Revealed

Uncharted star Tom Holland has just shared a first look at his portrayal of treasure-hunter Nathan Drake via Instagram--check out the image below. His pose is very similar to the cover of Uncharted 3. Hardcore film buffs and PlayStation fans will probably instantly notice that in his portrayal, at least based on this photo, Nathan shirt still doesn't have its iconic French tuck look. Otherwise, his outfit is essentially what we saw from the games, though he does look noticeably younger than he did in even the prequel Uncharted: Golden Abyss. View this post on Instagram It’s nice to meet you, I’m Nate. #uncharted A post shared by Tom Holland (@tomholland2013) on Oct 22, 2020 at 7:46am PDT If you can let that inaccuracy slide, there's room for plenty more excitement about the movie: Even though the pandemic has pretty much warped everyone's sense of time and wreaked all kinds of havoc on most movie production, the long-in-development Uncharted movie is apparently already nearly done filming. This update came through a since-expired Instagram Story shared by Holland, who's best known for his turn as Spider-Man in the MCU. Although filming on the video-game adaptation had begun only in July, this relatively quick beeline to the finish line--during COVID-19, no less--is comparatively a tiny stretch in what has been effectively development hell for the movie based on the popular PlayStation series: The movie has been gestating and facing all sorts of delays off and on over the last decade. Fortunately, the Holland Instagram tease isn't the only proof that the movie is indeed moving along--on Twitter, Holland also signal boosted a tweet from his voice-actor counterpart Nolan North, who shared some photos from a set visit.Continue Reading at GameSpot

The Orange County Department of Health is investigating several buildings that are considered COVID-19 hotspots in the county. The buildings where WWE is running shows are part of that list. F4WOnline is reporting that the Orange County Department of Health is asking its COVID-19 strike team to investigate 17 businesses where COVID-19 may be spreading. Well-known bars, a church, and two Crunch Fitness gyms are being looked at, but so are the big three WWE venues. The WWE Performance Center, Full Sail University, and the Amway Arena, all places WWE are currently holding events, are on the list. In a statement, WWE said: "WWE is not open to the public, but rather operating on a closed set with only essential personnel in attendance. As part of on-going weekly testing protocols, Aventus Labs have administered more than 10,000 PCR tests to WWE performers, employees, production staff, and crew resulting in only 1.5 percent positive cases as compared to the current national average of more than 5%. Can you believe 2020 is almost over? It's been a wild year of not leaving your house and spending most of your time binging Netflix. As November rolls around, you'd probably be expecting plenty of new content revolving around Thanksgiving, right? So far, what's been revealed for Netflix's November list is a bit heavier on Christmas content. The most notable Christmas movie arrives at the end of the month on November 25. The Christmas Chronicles 2 takes place a couple years after the first movie where Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis) saved Christmas. Now Santa (Kurt Russell) and Mrs. Claus (Goldie Hawn) need the kids' help again with another adventure. Check out the trailer below. Also coming to Netflix in November is Dawson's Creek. The Mandalorian Season 2: New Trailer Reveals Mando's Season 2 Quest

A new trailer for The Mandalorian Season 2 has appeared, giving us a look at what to expect when the show returns to Disney+ on October 30. We've previously had a full trailer, but this "special look" gives us some more details about what Mando and his crew are up to this time around. It seems that our hero is trying to reunite The Child (aka Baby Yoda) with his "own kind", which is exciting--Yoda's species remains a vague part of Star Wars lore that the series could potentially define. It also looks like Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) and Cara Dune (Gina Carano) will be given much more to do this time around. You can watch the trailer below. The Mandalorian has proved popular with Star Wars fans--and a future movie is not out of the question. The Mandalorian Season 2 will run for eight episodes, as Season 1 did before it. PS5 System Updates Will Optimize Its Fan Over Time

PS5 System Updates Will Optimize Its Fan Over Time

Sony plans to optimize the PlayStation 5 fan with game data collected from the hardware's Accelerated Processing Unit (APU). That will allow the company to tweak how intense the fan activity will be based on how particular games push the hardware. In an interview with 4Gamer.net (via Eurogamer), mechanical design VP Yasuhiro Ootori says the company will be collecting APU behavior for each game that's released. There's a temperature sensor inside the APU, as well as three more sensors on the main board. Sony will be able to adjust those fan control parameters basd on its collected data, like increasing the fan speed if a game tends to require a lot of processing power (and heat) for an extended time. To help test the fans, Otori also said that Sony made a transparent model of the PS5's outer chassis and observed smoke (from dry ice) flowing through it to help test the fans, airflow, and temperature. The PS4 and PS4 Pro were well-known for their fan noise, and part of the reason the PS5 is so large is for cooling.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Halo 4 PC Beta Test Delayed Slightly, Here's What You Need To Know

Halo 4 PC Beta Test Delayed Slightly, Here's What You Need To Know

The first public beta test for Halo 4 on PC through The Master Chief Collection was scheduled to take place last week, but Microsoft chose to delay it due to a "blocker" issue. Thankfully, this problem is expected to be sorted out in short order, and beta invitations should begin going out soon. "Unfortunately, we're not quite ready yet," Halo's community director, Brian Jarrard, wrote on the Halo forums. "As of this writing, the team has one remaining blocker to address before we can progress the build to Ring 3 and send out Halo Insider invites. We're close and, assuming this blocker can get resolved quickly without any further issues, we’re hoping to kick things off next week." A "blocker" is a bug that is "severe" enough to stop the beta test from working as intended, developer 343 says. When this bug for Halo 4 is fixed, the team will get the client ready for testers. That being said, the beta version of Halo 4 may still contain bugs, since it is a work-in-progress version of the game, just not bugs that are as critical in nature.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Is Rainbow Six Siege Coming To Xbox Game Pass?

One of the biggest multiplayer shooters of the generation could be coming to Xbox Game Pass, if the service's official Twitter account is hinting at what we think it is. Rainbow Six Siege has millions of players, and it looks like some more Xbox players are going to get access for free. pic.twitter.com/oJOf33vdSd — Xbox Game Pass (@XboxGamePass) October 17, 2020 A post on the Xbox Game Pass Twitter features no text, but instead an image of a massive six-band rainbow and a siege weapon placed outside a castle. That could be a big coincidence, but it almost certainly means the game is coming to Xbox Game Pass. Because Ubisoft is supporting free next-gen upgrades for Rainbow Six Siege and several other recent games, you'll likely be able to play the Xbox Series X and Series S version on the new systems, too. The Oregon Trail Documentary Examines Legendary Game's Origins

The Oregon Trail Documentary Examines Legendary Game's Origins

The best day in elementary school was when your whole class went into the computer lab and instead of using some boring science or math program, you got to play The Oregon Trail. The educational game has seen many iterations and has been around for decades, and MinnMax founder (and former Game Informer video producer) Ben Hanson has produced a documentary examining its unusual origins. You can watch the entire thing right here. Trailheads: The Oregon Trail is a free YouTube documentary that examines the game's Minnesota roots, including how it was initially created in college by the three-person team of Bill Heinemann, Paul Dillenberger, and Don Rawitsch and donated to the state's MECC organization. You've almost certainly played some version of The Oregon Trail if you live in the United States, as it has been a staple in schools for years and dates back in one form or another to 1971. It gained particular popularity on the Apple II computer and you can even get a handheld version that resembles that computer.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Fortnite Players Are Tired Of Season 4's Extra-Long Grind

Fortnite Players Are Tired Of Season 4's Extra-Long Grind

Fortnite's Season 4 is much meatier than previous seasons. The Marvel-character-filled battle pass has 220 tiers with special rewards that players are trying to unlock by grinding hours of the battle royale. "I just hit 145 and may call it quits at 180," said Redditor Jester0745. "It’s getting tiresome playing strictly to get punches done." New battle pass pages with additional rewards unlock once players reach tier 100. All the Marvel skins have additional styles, including silver, gold, and rainbow variants, that unlock every five levels. This season is ending on (or around) November 22 so players need to level up two and a half times per day to reach the top. That's not an easy task, even as Epic Games extended this season beyond the usual ten weeks.Continue Reading at GameSpot

New Ninja Battle Royale Game Looks Very Cool, Beta Sign-Ups Now Live

We haven't heard much about Naraka: Bladepoint since its announcement back at last year's Game Awards, but you might be able to give the extremely Sekiro-looking battle royale title a shot next month. Chinese developer 24 Entertainment just started allowing players to sign up for an upcoming closed beta on its website, which is due to kick off on November 3. If you're unfamiliar, Naraka is a 60-player battle royale game set in feudal Japan. You choose from one of six player characters to join the fray, each with a different fighting style, wielding a sword for combat and a highly versatile grappling hook for getting around. The idea is that if you can see a point, you can climb to it in one way or another, and battles are as much about zipping around for positioning as they are about close-range sword duels. Disney+ Updates Disclaimers About Negative Depictions, Linking To "Stories Matter" Site

Disney+ Updates Disclaimers About Negative Depictions, Linking To "Stories Matter" Site

When Disney+ launched, several movies carried a disclaimer admitting to outdated depictions of certain cultures and people, with many of the company's older films featuring content that has not held up well in 2020. Now, the advisory messages have been updated, and Disney has established a new website to better address this material. As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the disclaimers before movies like Peter Pan, The Aristocats, Dumbo, and Swiss Family Robinson now point towards Disney's "Stories Matter" page, which was created in collaboration with a third-party advisory council. The site directly addresses some of the issues in these films. "As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, we are in the process of reviewing our library and adding advisories to content that includes negative depictions or mistreatment of people or cultures," the page says. "Rather than removing this content, we see an opportunity to spark conversation and open dialogue on history that affects us all. We also want to acknowledge that some communities have been erased or forgotten altogether, and we're committed to giving voice to their stories as well." The page goes into detail about what, specifically, is wrong with these films, with the examples on the page right now focusing on racist depictions within these four films. Here's the full disclaimer leading into the link: "This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together. Disney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational themes that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience around the globe." In the past, Disney+ has altered and edited some content on its service--most notably, covering up a butt in Splash with weird CGI hair. Pixar's next film, Soul, will release onto Disney+ on Christmas day.

Digimon Survive Delayed To 2021

Game producer Kazumasa Habu has confirmed that the tactical RPG Digimon Survive now launches in 2021. An exact release date has not been revealed as of yet. However, the game is still slated to arrive on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Digimon Games Twitter account shared a statement by the game producer. Habu said that "current world events" impacted the development timing of Digimon Survive, making it difficult for the team to hit its original 2020 release window. "We originally planned to launch Digimon Survive in 2020 but current world events have shifted our development timing and we have made the difficult decision to push Digimon Survive's launch to 2021," Habu said. "We thank you all for your continued patience as we work to create a fun and engaging tactical RPG game along with a memorable story for Digimon fans. We will share some exciting updates for Digimon Survive in Spring 2021, so please stay tuned for more information."Continue Reading at GameSpot

GameStop Will Get A Share Of Digital Game Sales On Xbox

GameStop Will Get A Share Of Digital Game Sales On Xbox

GameStop is selling digital-only consoles from both Xbox and Sony this year, including the PS5 Digital Edition and Xbox Series S. That seems like handing your executioner the gun when so much of your business is based on selling used games, but an apparent agreement to split digital revenue between Microsoft and GameStop could explain the retailer's willingness to support the systems alongside the disc-based Xbox Series X and standard PS5. The investment advising firm DOMO Capital Management shared on Twitter that GameStop will receive a share of digital revenue for any Xbox system purchased at one of its stores or online. This includes game downloads and other digital content. Today $GME confirmed with @DOMOCAPITAL that the agreement with $MSFT includes revenue sharing on all downstream revenue (i.e. digital downloads and digital content) from any device that GameStop brings into the @Xbox ecosystem. GameStop now meaningfully participates in digital. — DOMO Capital Management, LLC (@DOMOCAPITAL) October 14, 2020 Game industry analyst Michael Pachter doesn't expect it to have a substantial impact on GameStop's heath, saying the company would likely get around 10% of digital revenue in these cases. An Xbox All Access subscription, for example, lasts 24 months at $35 per month on Xbox Series X, but this split would only give GameStop about $84 in total over that period. This is speculative, and doesn't necessarily represent the actual revenue split.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Sega Celebrates 60 Years With Limited-Time Mash-Ups, Prototypes, And More Incredible Artefacts

Sega is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary by opening up its vault and sharing some interesting internal experiments and homages with its fans. Three new titles have been unveiled, including a prototype for a cancelled Golden Axe reboot, a Yakuza/Streets of Rage 2 mash-up, and an Endless Legend-themed homage to Fantasy Zone. The three games will each release a day apart, and while none of them are full-blown games, they're interesting freebies. The highlight for many will likely be Streets of Kamurocho, which takes the characters of Yakuza and puts them into the gameplay of Streets of Rage 2. It's adorable. We've rounded each one up below. Each game will only be available until October 19 at 10 AM PT, so if you want to check them out, make sure to do so before then.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Battle.net Queue Times Estimate Up To Month-Long Wait To Play Games

If you were hoping to play a game through Blizzard's Battle.net service today, you could be in for a bit of a wait. By "a bit," we mean more than a month. Players attempting to log in on Battle.net today are finding themselves placed in extremely long queues, with one player estimating that he would be waiting for about 1.2 years if the queue's estimate was accurate. This isn't actually true, but it is about 45 days. Blizzard has not addressed the waits on its support Twitter page yet. Nothing like a 1.2 year queue. Maybe I'll login just in time for Halloween Terror 2021 if I'm lucky!!!! 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/tPNOUKvwBw — Stylosa (@Stylosa) October 14, 2020 Others had similar struggles, remarking they'd have to miss the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in November if they were accurate.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Bloodborne Modder Waiting For Sony Before Releasing 60 FPS Patch

Bloodborne Modder Waiting For Sony Before Releasing 60 FPS Patch

A modder who is currently working on a 60 FPS patch for Bloodborne has clarified the reason why he's waiting to release it--and it's not in case Sony doesn't deliver. Lance McDonald, who has been toiling away on a PlayStation 4 Pro version of Bloodborne to get it to run at 60 FPS, released new gameplay footage of his efforts in motion. His pinned YouTube comment says the 60 FPS patch will drop "once the PlayStation 5 has released and Sony have made it clear whether or not Bloodborne will be enhanced on that system in any way." McDonald goes on to say that he wants to give PlayStation "the first chance" to release a higher frame rate version of the game. On Twitter, McDonald clarified his intentions following a Kotaku report, in which the original headline posited that he would release the patch if Sony failed to release its own 60 FPS version. McDonald said he ultimately wants to make sure he doesn't "get in the way of Sony doing important and awesome work." He also said that the 60 FPS patch will release whether or not Bloodborne gets a PS5 enhanced port.Continue Reading at GameSpot

The Last Of Us 2 Drops To $40 In Prime Day Deal, Works On PS5

One of the year's biggest game releases, The Last of Us Part II, is on sale for Amazon Prime Day 2020. Amazon has dropped Naughty Dog's acclaimed PS4 game to just $40, which is as cheap as it's been since its release back in June. As with all Prime Day deals, this one requires you to have an Amazon Prime membership to get the sale pricing (but you can get a 30-day free trial to get around that). It's possible other retailers will match this price with their anti-Prime Day sales, and indeed, Best Buy and Newegg also have it for $40. Disney CEO Says Covid Isn't To Blame For Streaming-Focused Reorg

Just a year ago, Disney+ was a brand new beast in the streaming space, hitting the ground running with a fabulous first season of The Mandalorian. Now, streaming is becoming a focus for the company and prompting a major reorg in the process. Disney is restructuring to focus on its direct-to-consumer strategies, and will centralize its various media businesses into a single organization responsible for content distribution, ad sales, and streaming. "I would not characterize [the reorganization] as a response to Covid," Disney CEO Bob Chapek said on CNBC's Closing Bell program. "I would say Covid accelerated the rate at which we made this transition, but the transition was going to happen anyway."Continue Reading at GameSpot

How Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Settlement Pulls You Into Everyday Viking Life

How Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Settlement Pulls You Into Everyday Viking Life

Ahead of Assassin's Creed Valhalla's release, I had the opportunity to check out how settlement building will work in the game. Though Ubisoft has described the establishment of a new home for Eivor's people as a major motivation for the character, there's been little shown about this aspect of Valhalla so far. I was a bit surprised to see just how much the settlement factors into Valhalla's gameplay loop, serving as a place you'll regularly visit and invest in throughout the campaign. It feels like an improvement to how home bases have worked in Assassin's Creed in the past, largely for how it pulls you into Eivor's life beyond their mission. "It was really important when we designed [the settlement] that it felt exactly like when you come back home after a long journey away--you work in some other places, other regions, other countries, and you come back to your family and some element has changed," explained David Bolle, level designer on the settlement feature. In a video presentation, Bolle showed me how Eivor's settlement evolves over the course of the game. Some of the changes are caused by you; for example, spending resources to build shops will, in turn, welcome settlers to set up camp in the area and join your community. Other times, the changes happen without you. For instance, you may return after a lengthy campaign mission only to find some traders have set up shop or that some of the people have elected to improve the architecture of certain structures and make the place feel more like a permanent residence for its people.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot To Play Cleopatra In New Movie Directed By Patty Jenkins

Two of the biggest names behind the Wonder Woman films are working together again on something new. Gal Gadot will play Cleopatra in a period drama about the Egyptian ruler in a new film directed by Wonder Woman's Patty Jenkins. Paramount Pictures won the auction for the movie after an auction with Universal, Warner Bros., Netflix, and Apple said to be in the mix, according to a report from Deadline. The new film will be written by Laeta Kalogridis, who wrote the Martin Scorsese movie Shutter Island. She also co-wrote the script for Alita: Battle Angel and created the Netflix show Altered Carbon. Pitches to studios were made over Zoom calls, according to Deadline. And this is more than a simple development deal--the report said Paramount is working with "an urgency to mount a big budget theatrical release film as quickly as possible."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Geoff Johns Talks Stargirl's Season 2 Villains at NYCC 2020

The first season of Stargirl ended with a bang as the JSA took down the majority of the Injustice Society, but the final moments of the season hinted at the villains we'll see the team tangling with in future episodes. Showrunner and Stargirl creator Geoff Johns talked about those villains at at a New York Comic-Con 2020 virtual panel for the show to give us an idea of what's to come. Spoilers for the end of Season 1 follow. After Stargirl/Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) and her friends took down Icicle (Neil Jackson), Brainwave (Christopher James Baker), Dragon King (Nelson Lee) and left Sportsmaster (Neil Hopkins), Tigress (Joy Osmanski), Solomon Grundy, and the Gambler (Eric Goins) in the wind, the Dragon King's daughter Cindy was all that was left of the ISA at the end of season 1. But in the final moments, a shadowy figure appears in the ISA headquarters while Cindy Burman (Meg DeLacy) digs an ominous-looking gem out of storage. These are Season 2's big bads: The Shade and Eclipso. We don't know much yet about how they'll figure into future episodes, but Geoff Johns is excited to say the least. "[Eclipso] is so terrifying; I've always loved the character and you guys probably did a little bit of research," Johns said to the Stargirl cast members also attending the panel. "But he's a very different antagonist or villain than the ISA."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Hulu's Animaniacs Pay Homage To Jurassic Park In New NYCC 2020 Clip

Hulu's Animaniacs Pay Homage To Jurassic Park In New NYCC 2020 Clip

Animaniacs was such a singular thing during its first run that it's hard not to worry about the upcoming reboot, which is coming to Hulu on November 20. But if the first clip, shown at this year's virtual New York Comic-Con event, is anything to go by, we're in for a good time. 😲 @Hulu did it. They- they actually did it. Check out our @NY_Comic_Con exclusive clip! #Animaniacs #NYCC pic.twitter.com/U0Z9cb15Ir — The Animaniacs (@TheAnimaniacs) October 11, 2020 This first clip picks up right where the show left off and, appropriately, parodies something from the '90s that's in the middle of a revival, Jurassic Park. Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler gape in awe at the re-animated Animaniacs, commenting on the siblings' vectored lines while Stephen Spielberg explains that he re-animated the Warner Brothers (And the Warner Sister). Spielberg was apparently quite involved in getting the remake going. The cast discussed the casting decisions during the panel, explaining that Spielberg said, "If we do this, it's with Tress, Jess, Maurice and Rob," and not with Peter Dinklage as the Brain and Russel Brand as Pinky or something like that. Spielberg went to every pitch himself, they explained. If anything should inspire confidence that Animaniacs is more than just a cash-grab rehash, that might be it.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Monster Hunter Featurette Compares Movie's Monsters To Game's

Monster Hunter Featurette Compares Movie's Monsters To Game's

The upcoming Monster Hunter movie has drawn some worried looks from fans for not appearing to have much in common with its source material, but in a new featurette, director Paul W.S. Anderson sat down with the games' creators to show them how the film is striving for accuracy. This includes pulling a few monsters directly out of the games. Game director Kaname Fujioka and producer Ryozo Tsujimoto were both involved in the process, and Anderson said the Diablos monster was one of the first they started dialing in. As you can see in the comparison shots, the design is very similar to the one in Monster Hunter World, with the same tusks on either side of the mouth and enormous teeth in the middle. The horns have been somewhat straightened out, but it's a relatively minor difference. The Rathalos was given a similar treatment, and it looks like it will serve as one of the biggest enemies Milla Jovovich's character faces in the movie. Despite an early teaser focusing heavily on machine guns, the movie will feature traditional Monster Hunter weapons, too. Jovovich will be using dual blades to match what she uses when she plays the game, and Tony Jaa's character uses an enormous sword and a bow.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Ghost Of Tsushima's Big Update Will Let You Pet The Dogs--Then Set Them On Enemies

Ghost of Tsushima might let you pet the foxes, but it hasn't let you pet the dogs yet. In fact, until now, players have had to kill the dogs when they attacked, as they were, exclusively, very bad dogs. That's all set to change in Update 1.1, the huge update that's also adding co-op--soon you'll be able to befriend the dogs. In the game's New Game+ mode, which will be added on October 16, you'll be able to equip the Charm of Canine Recruitment. This allows you to walk up to enemy dogs and give them a good pet, which will make them change sides and attack your enemies. Just be aware that the dogs are still likely to die in the ensuing scuffle, unless you're a very good samurai. You can see the charm in action below. Continue Reading at GameSpot

Star Wars: Squadrons Update 1.1 Now Live On All Platforms

An update has been rolled out for Star Wars: Squadrons on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One that stabilizes the game, tweaks flight controls, and fixes bugs. The full patch notes are outlined below. The meat of the patch is dedicated to bug fixes. One in particular centers on an issue found in the Fleet Battles tutorial mission where it would not complete if the player was destroyed at certain points during the operation. The update also addresses several other problem areas, including complications with V-Sync, Imperial squadrons being invisible during Dogfight's opening cinematic, and the 3000 series of Nvidia GPUs defaulting to low graphics mode. Elsewhere in the patch are adjustments to flight controls. This includes adding an option to adjust the deadzone for controllers and flight sticks separately. as well as tweaking the default input curves for flight sticks so that they feel more responsive.Continue Reading at GameSpot

The Pathless Emphasizes A Minimalist Open-World That's About Communing With Nature

The Pathless Emphasizes A Minimalist Open-World That's About Communing With Nature

After playing the opening hour of The Pathless, the next game from developer Giant Squid, what really struck a chord with me was how much it emphasized the importance of its setting. Like the developer's previous game, Abzu (an underwater narrative-adventure game), The Pathless focuses on communing with nature and freeing it from the grasp of an evil force. However, it incorporates that idea into an open-world framework, pushing the need to connect and explore its luscious setting. Coming to PC, iOS (and Apple Arcade), PS4, and to PS5 as a launch title on November 12, The Pathless has you guiding a nameless hunter across vast stretches of forest and within lost ruins to free ancient gods who have been corrupted. While I had the chance to play the first hour of the game, I also got to check out a quick presentation from creative director Matt Nava to learn more about the team's thoughts on making a more subdued, but still enticing adventure set in a large open landscape. Compared to the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Ghost of Tsushima, or Genshin Impact, The Pathless takes a more minimalist approach to its story and open-world gameplay. Taking cues from other pieces of fiction like Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke or the stories from Arthurian legend, The Pathless' main narrative is about the dichotomy of humanity and nature coming together. The core gameplay and premise of the lone hunter connecting with nature are the focus, and the mechanics surrounding that aims to highlight and elevate that narrative. Early on, the Hunter will partner up with an eagle who helps her reach high places, solve puzzles, and becomes a generally friendly companion on the journey. And yes, you can pet them at any time.Continue Reading at GameSpot
