Wonder Woman 3 Is Being Fast-Tracked After Impressive Box Office For WW84

Wonder Woman 3 Is Being Fast-Tracked After Impressive Box Office For WW84

While the bar for a successful theatrical release isn't high in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Wonder Woman 1984 has cleared it, reporting a box office of $16.7 million over its three-day Christmas opening weekend according to a press release. This figure is the best any movie has reported since the pandemic began, beating out Tenet and The Croods: A New Age's COVID-affected openings. While the numbers would be disappointing in a normal year, Wonder Woman 1984 has done better than expected given the circumstances. It currently boasts a total box office of $85 million, with $68.3 million of that coming from outside the USA. And because of this, Wonder Woman 3 is being fast-tracked. "As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of Wonder Woman 1984, we are excited to be able continue her story with our real life Wonder Women--Gal and Patty--who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy," said Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: Everything We Know

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: Everything We Know

Ratchet & Clank is one of Sony's longest-running series, blending classic 3D platforming with an array of wild and wacky weaponry. It also serves as a nice bit of variety in the PlayStation portfolio, complementing dark and serious games like The Last of Us and God of War with the spirit of a Saturday morning cartoon. So it should come as no surprise that the PS5 already has a new entry in the works, called Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. But this Ratchet is also serving as a nice showpiece for the PS5, relying on a snappy dimension-hopping mechanic made possible by the new hardware's faster-loading SSD. That may be why unlike some other launch window games for PS5 like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West, it's not coming for PS4 as well. Here's everything we know so far about Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. For more on upcoming games, check out our most anticipated games of 2021.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Far Cry 6: Everything We Know

Far Cry 6: Everything We Know

The Far Cry series has been one of Ubisoft's most defining open-world action-adventure franchises, focusing on exploration and fighting hostile forces in exotic locales. In Far Cry 6, the franchise heads to a new location known as Yara, loosely based on the island and history of Cuba. Set during a political and social revolution, Yara's citizens begin their campaign to overthrow the cruel dictator Presidente Castillo. Here's everything we know about Far Cry 6 so far. For more on other upcoming new games, check out our most anticipated games of 2021. The Story So Far Though previous entries in the Far Cry series have had some loose connections, Far Cry 6 is an entirely standalone game that doesn't have many ties to the previous games. This is likely for the best, considering Far Cry 5 and its spin-off New Dawn unexpectedly brought the series into the post-apocalyptic setting. Far Cry 6 takes place in the present, with the modern world still intact. However, this game's setting is on the island of Yara, a country isolated from the rest of the world due to economic sanctions, as the developers explained in a talk with GameSpot shortly after the reveal Playing as a native of Yara who joins the rebel forces, you'll make your way through the island dismantling the country's systems of power before facing off against Presidente Anton Castillo, who's played by Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian actor Giancarlo Esposito.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Final Fantasy XVI: Everything We Know

Final Fantasy XVI: Everything We Know

One of the major announcements during the PlayStation 5 reveal stream earlier in 2020 was Final Fantasy XVI. With a lengthy trailer that set the mood and showcased a bit of gameplay, there was a lot to parse for the next mainline entry in the storied franchise. Many mainstays of Final Fantasy lore were put front and center, and you can catch glimpses of how this new game is building off of the series' broader history and its recent past. In addition to the relatively detailed reveal trailer, Square Enix also launched an official website that contains in-depth looks at FFXVI's new world and characters to get you started on understanding the backstory. What's notable about this entry, in particular, is that it's being developed by Creative Business Unit III--which is the not-so-flashy name for the division behind the incredible MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. It's promising given that Naoki Yoshida is leading production on FFXVI--he led the team behind the rebirth of FFXIV and continues to direct the MMO, which keeps getting better and is regarded as top-tier in its storytelling. FFXVI itself is being directed by Hiroshi Takai, who has a lengthy history with Final Fantasy and Square Enix, and he was even part of developing FFXIV's reboot. We're still a ways away from the launch of FFXVI, but Yoshida-san has stated that a major reveal of new information on the game is coming in 2021. You can catch up on everything we know so far in the rest of this article. You should also check out our most anticipated games of 2021, or...you can read about how there's never been a better time to get into FFXIV! Elden Ring: Everything We Know

Elden Ring: Everything We Know

Isn't it a little funny that we've heard more about Elden Ring in 2020 from Xbox head Phil Spencer than from the actual developers behind the game? Developer From Software sure is keeping details about Elden Ring close to the chest, but we do know a bit about the upcoming game. From Software is developing the game in collaboration with Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, telling a story where you're exploring an open world full of different kingdoms that are each ruled by a powerful entity. When you defeat a ruler, you gain their unique power--a system that sounds like (but isn't confirmed to be) how you can acquire the abilities and weapons of Dark Souls bosses by transfiguring their souls. When talking to GameSpot, Spencer said, "As somebody who's played all of Miyazaki's games over at least the last decade, [Elden Ring] is clearly the most ambitious game that he's done. I mean, I love his games, but seeing some of the gameplay mechanics stuff that he's tackling, he and the team are tackling this time, of the setting, working with another creator in terms of story. I love it."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Will the year bring fantastic games and experiences that will push the new hardware toward exciting new heights? Or will we still have to wait a while before the heavy investment we made this past holiday season becomes worth it? And let's not forget; Nintendo just might use this year to release the long-rumored upgrade to the Switch--we think as much, at least. Whatever may happen, time will tell (or we will in our predictions)! In GameSpot's annual prediction series, we've put our brains together to determine what could happen next year in the world of games. While our accuracy in predicting the future isn't always on the mark, it still won't stop us from speculating. Below you can find our gaming predictions for 2021. Wonder Woman 1984: How Did Chris Pine's Steve Trevor Come Back?

Wonder Woman 1984: How Did Chris Pine's Steve Trevor Come Back?

One of the biggest mysteries surrounding Wonder Woman 1984 has been the return of Chris Pine's Steve Trevor, a character who heroically sacrificed his life back in the first Wonder Woman film, set during World War I. In the trailers, however, we've been able to clearly see that Steve is back and seemingly completely fine here in the '80s, with Diana showing him around and cracking all sorts of jokes about everything that's changed for him. In our review, we singled out the much-needed feel good message of the film--which of course, includes Steve's arc in the movie. "Wonder Woman 1984 features some cheesy-looking CGI effects and some even cheesier messages. But it's also an improvement on the original in some key ways--where the first movie concluded with Wonder Woman literally punching the anthropomorphized concept of War in the face, WW84's climactic showdown is much more nuanced. The message--that every individual person on the planet has a shared responsibility for the common good--gets slightly muddled in the end, but it's also the exact one we need right now. And Wonder Woman 1984 is the exact film you'll want to sit down and watch with family, friends, and loved ones this holiday--even if you're doing so over Zoom."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Spider-Man: Miles Morales' Dinner Scene Hits Hard This Holiday

Spider-Man: Miles Morales' Dinner Scene Hits Hard This Holiday

Miles Morales and his mom Rio just moved into a new apartment in Harlem. There's still a lot to unpack in their rooms, and you can learn so much about them by looking around and examining their possessions. But the living room and kitchen are all put together, and Rio is going all-out to prepare a big Christmas dinner for herself, Miles, and a few family friends. It's a heartwarming scene where you have to do a few chores like put on some music, light the Christmas tree, and make sure Ganke cleans up the damn mess he made spilling soup on the rug. What's most important here is that it's a rich display of culture, language, and food that celebrates the Morales' Puerto Rican heritage. Anyone who has played Spider-Man: Miles Morales will remember this part of the game--not necessarily for the fact that Miles has to get the power back on by using his Spidey skills while no one's looking, but because it draws you into a cozy winter vibe of a snow-covered New York City. It's a powerful moment of character building--you hear Miles and Rio speak Spanish to each other and you can see the Puerto Rican cuisine prepared and being cooked. It's an invitation to see Miles' Boricua roots first hand, and a striking piece of representation for those who share Boricua roots or relate through other Latin-American cultures, all over a nice dinner for the holidays. And for me, after I spoke to my mom to let her know I couldn't come home for Christmas this year, these moments in the game became much more bittersweet. As I walked through that scene, it reminded me of home and my mom, a reflection of the 20-plus years in the past I spent with her during Christmastime. Rio is on the phone speaking Spanish while she's cooking, just like how my mom would talk chismis in Tagalog over the phone with my aunties, acting like I wouldn't understand what she was saying. Some of the food you see on the counter and being cooked closely resembles Filipino dishes I always had growing up, too.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Netflix's New Early Cobra Kai Release Date Is Your Gift From The Streaming Service

If you've been waiting for the sweet embrace of a new season of Cobra Kai, and you're counting down the days until January 8, 2021, then stop counting because that's no longer the release date for the new season. Netflix has announced Season 3 of Cobra Kai will land on January 1, 2021. To celebrate the release, Netflix has a new video featuring Johnny Lawrence using a computer. That's right, you'll be able to strike hard, strike fast with no mercy as you click "play" as hard as possible on your controller--possibly breaking it. Earlier this month, the first trailer arrived for the new season--which had its first two season premieres on YouTube Premium before moving to Netflix earlier this year. The end of Season 2 left one person in the hospital and a local high school torn apart--literally--as a karate riot saw students from Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence's dojos at each other's throats. In addition to the earlier release date, Netflix has announced that the cast of Cobra Kai will join The Netflix Afterparty on January 2, to discuss the third season with hosts David Spade, Fortune Feimster, and London Hughes.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Tencent Scoops Up Gears Tactics And Warfare Devs In Leyou Acquisition

Chinese media conglomerate Tencent has picked up two more developers after acquiring the Hong Kong-based video game company Leyou: Warframe developer Digital Extremes and Splash Damage, the studio best known for Brink, co-creating Gears 5's multiplayer and Gears Tactics with The Coalition, and the PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Both Digital Extremes and Splash Damage released statements about the acquisition, saying business at each studio will continue as usual. The studios will remain independent entities within Tencent, letting them leverage the giant's resources to bolster development efforts. "One of our core pillars is transparency and so we’d like to let you know what that means: We will remain creatively independent, we expect no changes to Warframe or how our studio operates, and we will remain as dedicated ever to you, the community, who has been with us every step of the way since we launched Warframe," Digital Extremes said about the acquisition.Continue Reading at GameSpot

PS5 Update Adds Alerts For When You're Running PS4 Versions Of Games

PS5 Update Adds Alerts For When You're Running PS4 Versions Of Games

A new PS5 update adds alerts if the system detects that you may be accidentally running the last-gen version of a game that has an updated PS5 version. The update solves a confusing issue that fans have been hitting since the new console launched. As noted by Twitter user Tidux and confirmed by GameSpot, starting the PS4 version of a game on your PS5 will now prompt a dialogue box. That alerts the user that they're launching the last-gen version and allowing them to switch to the PS5 version instead. When the console first launched, various cross-generation games would default to their PS4 versions, leaving users playing the older games on their shiny new hardware. Some even felt underwhelmed by the new console because the games didn't look noticeably better, when they were accidentally looking at the PS4 versions. This update would appear to resolve that problem.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Nintendo Boss Says Switch Is Entering "Midpoint" Of Its Lifecycle

Having launched almost four years ago, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser believes the Switch has finally entered the midpoint of its lifecycle. In an extensive interview with Polygon, Bowser discussed the company's 2021 outlook, how well the Switch performed amidst the ongoing pandemic, and what the midpoint for both the standard Switch and more-affordable Switch Lite means for the platform's ecosystem. According to Bowser, it means the company will "really lean into both platforms" while continuing to call attention to the Switch's unique console-handheld hybrid nature. "[T]he way we build games onto the platform, and the way partners build games onto the platform, is really what matters and the experience that you have when you play," Bowser said. "So that's what we'll continue to lean into as we go into really what will be the fifth year of Nintendo Switch. And as Mr. [Shuntaro] Furukawa [president of Nintendo] mentioned in his corporate management policy briefing, we believe we're just at the midpoint of this life cycle on this platform."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Steam's 2020 Black Friday Sale Was Its Most Successful Ever

Steam's 2020 Black Friday Sale Was Its Most Successful Ever

Steam runs a number of big seasonal sales each year, but it has revealed that the most recent--the Autumn Sale that coincided with the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend--was its biggest yet. The sale drew in new users to Steam, as well as a huge number of returning players. While the sale exceeded previous events according to a number of benchmarks Steam tracks, the one it chose to highlight was a record amount of revenue going back to developers and publishers. The blog post says that, while it's difficult to quantify how many games are finding success on Steam, the data shows that there are more games than ever grossing at least $10,000, all the way up to $1,000,000. Valve also reveals that just under a million players spent money on Steam for the first time during the Autumn Sale--which isn't too surprising in a year that has seen rapid increases in the number of people gaming on all devices, due to the pandemic keeping them inside. The peak number of concurrent players logging on for the sale also increased by around 7 million when compared to last year's Autumn Sale.Continue Reading at GameSpot

WWE TLC Live Results: Winners And Losers Of The 2020 PPV

It's December, and the final PPV of the year, TLC is here. WWE wants to take the year out with a bang, and that means matches filled with tables, ladders, and chairs--and maybe even a little fire for some reason.. Some of the biggest rivalries from the latter half of this year are coming to a head, and many of these will continue to January's PPV Royal Rumble. The Thunderdome has moved to a new location, and TLC will take place at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida. That's right. It's a WWE PPV in the middle of a baseball stadium. However, since you can't attend the show in person, you'll have to watch it the old fashion way--through the WWE Network. How to watch: If you're looking to watch WWE's TLC PPV, you're going to have to sign up for the WWE Network, which costs $10 a month. The streaming service no longer offers one month for free, but it is well worth the price of admission, as there is plenty of other content to keep you entertained, like old episodes of Raw, Smackdown, WCW Nitro, PPVs, and original content. There is also a free tier, which you can use to watch the Kickoff Show of the PPV, but not the main card.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Shigeru Miyamoto's Kids Were Big Sega Fans Growing Up

No one is more closely associated with Nintendo than Shigeru Miyamoto. "Mario's dad" and the creator of series like Donkey Kong and The Legend of Zelda has been with the company for decades, and his own children grew up with access to Nintendo's game library. That's why it's particularly amusing that they were also big Sega fans. Speaking to The New Yorker, Miyamoto said that growing up, his children were big fans of Space Harrier and Out Run--two classics we've seen on numerous systems, including Sega Genesis. They both hold up fairly well today, and you can actually play them both on Nintendo Switch via the Sega Ages series. Perhaps that Sega love came as a result of the house's game consoles being owned by Miyamoto himself rather than his kids.Continue Reading at GameSpot

CD Projekt Could Face Investor Lawsuits Over Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt could soon be facing yet another Cyberpunk 2077 problem, arguably bigger than having to offer refunds to upset players: a class-action lawsuit. According to VGC, multiple law firms, as well as a CD Projekt investor, are looking into a class-action suit related to potential misrepresentation by CD Projekt. The company could be accused of breaking an SEC rule that makes it unlawful to operate "as a fraud or a deceit upon any person" during security transactions. In other words, this potential lawsuit would see investors taking aim at CD Projekt rather than the customers who bought the game. Given the massive drop in share value for the company over the last week, this isn't a huge surprise. Several of the executives and co-founders of the company have reportedly lost over $1 billion in their own stock value since the game's launch.Continue Reading at GameSpot

No More Heroes And Its Sequel Get Rated For PC

The No More Heroes games have been primarily associated with Nintendo systems thus far, and the upcoming No More Heroes 3 will be a Switch exclusive. However, it looks like the first two games could be coming to PC if an ESRB rating listing is any indication. Spotted by Gematsu, there are full ratings and descriptions available on the ESRB website for both No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. Only the Windows PC platform is listed at the top of each page, and the games were only available on Wii and Nintendo Switch, though an enhanced version of the first game did also come to PS3 and Xbox 360. Keep in mind that these rating descriptions do contain some spoilers about the games in order to convey their level of violence. The spinoff game Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes did release on PC eventually, coming alongside a PS4 version in late 2019 after the game initially launched as a Switch exclusive. It's possible something like this could also be planned for No More Heroes 3, though only a Switch version has been revealed so far.Continue Reading at GameSpot

However, it appears the company is now taking a different approach, as it is no longer recommending PlayStation players request a refund at all. You might be stuck waiting for the game to be fixed. That is, if it ever gets to a truly playable state on base consoles at all. In an email sent out to those who requested refund assistance (obtained by Waypoint's Patrick Klepek), CD Projekt Red still recommends that Xbox players contact Microsoft directly. For PlayStation players, however, it told them to wait for "us to get back to you." No timetable was given for when this could be. People are starting to get this response back from CD Projekt RED, after emailing their “help” address for refunds. The language is interesting: it doesn’t tell you to request a refund from Sony anymore. You’re supposed to wait. pic.twitter.com/Hb77SQ5teD — Patrick Klepek (@patrickklepek) December 16, 2020 Sony's system appears to be more difficult to navigate than Microsoft's, as those who did obtain a refund often had to talk to Sony on the phone and state their case. Sony's refund policy typically only lets you get back the cash you spend as PlayStation Store credit if you haven't downloaded or started it yet, but it remains to be seen if that policy will be relaxed because of the widespread complaints about Cyberpunk 2077. As of now, there isn't any sort of agreement in place to make refunds easier.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Best Games Of 2020 - Spiritfarer

Best Games Of 2020 - Spiritfarer

Over the next week, we will be posting features for what we've nominated to be the best games of 2020. Then, on December 17, we will crown one of the nominees as GameSpot's Best Game of 2020, so join us as we celebrate these 10 games on the road to the big announcement. Be sure to check out our other end-of-the-year coverage collected in our Best Games of 2020 hub. Spiritfarer is a cozy resource management and farming sim with a dreamy, colorful art style and adorable talking animals. It's also a game about death, grief, and the process of letting go. Though these two aspects may seem at odds, Spiritfarer finds a delicate balance between its lighthearted adventure gameplay and the heavier themes woven throughout, offering a large, intriguing world to explore and characters you'll come to love along the way. Spiritfarer has an amusing connection to one of our other Game of the Year nominees, Hades, both of which feature the mythological ferryman Charon, who transports souls to the world of the dead. But while he plays a more minor role of shopkeeper in Hades, Spiritfarer dives deeper into the role of Charon--the Spiritfarer--and what it might entail if someone else stepped into his shoes. In this case, Charon's successor is a young girl named Stella, who, with the help of her fluffy cat Daffodil, must take on the responsibilities of the Spiritfarer and accompany recently deceased souls to the world beyond this one, marked by an ancient bridge called the Everdoor. Charon's role has ended, and even he must pass through the Everdoor--an early reminder that no one can escape death in the end, even the ferryman of souls.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Trailer For Netflix's Outside The Wire Features Anthony Mackie Shooting Robots

While fans will have to wait until March for Anthony Mackie to pick up Captain America's shield in Disney+'s The Falcon and Winter Soldier, Mackie's newest Netflix movie hits the streaming service next month. Outside The Wire is a sci-fi action movie about a drone pilot, played by Snowfall's Damson Idris, who pairs up with Mackie's android character Leo to take out insurgents. Check out the trailer below. Directed by Mikael Håfström (1408, The Rite), Outside The Wire almost has a Training Day feel to it, with Leo taking in Idris' Harp under his wing to take on heavily-armed militants with super scientific tech weapons. Written by Rob Yescombe and Rowan Athale, who has a career primarily in video game narrative writing, caught the attention of Håfström with their take on the prospect of cybernetic mercenaries. "It's this kind of close, future around the corner story, I've always liked," Håfström told Polygon. "Certain aspects of the story were things that we hadn't seen yet but that we could sort of imagine if we just took today's technology and pushed it a little bit more forward 20, 30 years or so." Netflix's The Witcher Announced Mysterious Six Days Of Witchmas

Netflix's The Witcher Announced Mysterious Six Days Of Witchmas

Something new and weird is happening over on The Witcher Netflix series' Twitter, which has recently sounded a clarion call for "the six days of Witchmas." The thread--which you can see the beginning of below--indicates that starting December 15 and for the following six consecutive days, gifts (which are only referred to as "content") will be given out a day after fans are given the opportunity to vote. I come bearing an invitation to a special #Witchmas celebration! You are cordially invited to the 6 DAYS OF WITCHMAS, a holiday feast where nobody has to mingle, and everybody receives a gift! — The Witcher (@witchernetflix) December 14, 2020 It seems the account is putting a flare out to announce it will be holding a series of Twitter polls, which will allow fans to decide what new screenshots or other assets (video or sound clips, maybe?) will be "gifted" to fans through the same account. The event will end on December 21, so hopefully there will be some more clarity at the latest by then, if not sooner once it gets underway. In hindsight, this Twitter event was teased in a YouTube clip last month, but it all still raises more questions than answers at this early date. Meanwhile, the series restarted production on The Witcher Season 2 back in August. Like many other series, it had to retool to accommodate COVID safety protocols. However, with all precautions honored, the series has had two pauses due to positive COVID-19 tests. What's worse, star Henry Cavill has reportedly sustained a minor leg injury--and the production is continuing without him for the moment. Hopefully, in the end, the show will not have suffered for all these complications--and for all involved to still be safe.Continue Reading at GameSpot

EA Reportedly In Talks To Buy Codemasters, Could Cut Out Take-Two

EA Reportedly In Talks To Buy Codemasters, Could Cut Out Take-Two

A little over a month ago, publisher Take-Two announced it had agreed to purchase Codemasters, a British company best known for its racing franchises. It would have helped to fill a hole in Take-Two's genre output--it doesn't do much in the way of racing games now--but it appears those plans could be on hold because of an apparent bid by Electronic Arts. According to Sky News, Electronic Arts has made a larger offer than the £725 million (nearly $1 billion) offered by Take-Two, and it will likely be made public on Monday. It doesn't appear Codemasters has agreed to EA's offer yet, and the publisher refused to comment when asked by Sky News. Take-Two could potentially reignite its Midnight Club franchise with Codemasters' talent, but acquiring such acclaimed racing studios would also make sense for Electronic Arts. Though Criterion Games had success with Need for Speed and resumed development on the franchise, Need for Speed as a whole has struggled in recent years. More racing experts to contribute to the next game could be very valuable to EA.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Genshin Impact Shows Off Huge Mountain Region In New Trailer

Genshin Impact Shows Off Huge Mountain Region In New Trailer

Genshin Impact has attracted a massive following with its free-to-play take on the Zelda: Breath of the Wild formula, and it's getting even bigger with Version 1.2. The latest content update will add a new mountain region called Dragonspire, filled with dangerous enemies and extreme cold. The mountain is said to accrue more and more snow, which never melts. In the trailer, we see heroes go up against powerful ice monsters, some of whom resemble yetis. The mountain is located in the southern part of Mondstadt, and once you get into the frigid canyon, you can eventually find a cave filled with a pulsated orb that looks like it's somehow biologically connected to the mountain itself. Two new characters are introduced in the update--Albedo and Ganyu. The former relies on sword strikes and has a powerful area-of-effect attack to send enemies flying, while the latter is a powerful and deceptive magic user. There are also new weapons and new story quests to go along with the region, so it's a great time to jump back in if you have taken a break.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Steam Breaks Concurrent Player Record With Help From Cyberpunk 2077

Steam Breaks Concurrent Player Record With Help From Cyberpunk 2077

It has only been a few days since Cyberpunk 2077 released, and Steam has already broken a record for the most concurrent users ever. As of December 12, the new record is more than 24 million players, with CD Projekt Red's RPG playing an enormous role in making this possible. To be precise, 24,776,635 people were on Steam concurrently on December 12, with about a quarter of those users active in a game. Since the pandemic began, Steam's concurrent numbers have steadily increased, albeit with a brief dip in the summer--hopefully those absent players were still practicing social distancing. So, what are the driving forces behind the recent surge? Cyberpunk 2077 is a major player, of course, with an all-time peak of more than 1 million players, while Steam staple Counter-Strike: Global Offensive slightly edged it out on the same day. Most of the other games on the chart are Steam mainstays, including Dota 2, Player's Unknown Battlegrounds, Grand Theft Auto V, and Team Fortress 2.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Cyberpunk 2077 Devs' Bonuses Reportedly No Longer Tied To Review Scores

Cyberpunk 2077 Devs' Bonuses Reportedly No Longer Tied To Review Scores

Cyberpunk 2077 released on December 10, and despite the game receiving generally good reviews, it has also found itself as the subject of controversy regarding its numerous bugs and poor state on last-gen systems. These criticisms haven't escaped the management at CD Projekt Red, as the company has reportedly changed how it awards bonuses to no longer factor in the game's average review score. According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, Cyberpunk 2077 creative director Adam Badowski emailed the development team to explain how bonuses were changing. He admitted that given the "circumstances"--possibly referring to the work-from-home woes the team has gone through--it wasn't fair to tie these bonuses to a review score. "We underestimated the lengths and complexity involved to make this a reality, and still you did everything you could to deliver an ambitious, special game," he added.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch Notes: Update 1.04 Deals With Seizure Concerns, Copyrighted Music

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch Notes: Update 1.04 Deals With Seizure Concerns, Copyrighted Music

Developer CD Projekt Red has dropped a new update for Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 that addresses its copious bugs and issues. Update 1.04, which hits Xbox consoles "as soon as possible," also fixes the quest system. The full patch notes are outlined below. It's no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 has been plagued by issues since its December 10 launch, with some players even seeing their main character's genitals through clothing, among other complaints. While this particular issue isn't called out in the patch notes, Update 1.04 does address various problems with Cyberpunk 2077. This includes stabilizing the game and ironing out the myriad crashes. Other fixes for Cyberpunk 2077 include reducing vehicle appearance pop-in, addressing issues with missing NPC animations during cinematics, fixing the weapon preview while crafting, and removing copyrighted music through the "Disable Copyrighted Music" toggle. The latter feature was not working as intended after launch, prompting CD Projekt Red to recommend that streamers disable Cyberpunk 2077's music entirely to avoid risking DMCA strikes. Superman & Lois Gives The Man Of Steel A Brand-New Look

Earlier this year--like what feels centuries ago before COVID earlier--The CW ordered a Superman And Lois series to follow the adventures of The Man of Steel and the Daily Planet's star reporter. Earlier in 2020, the series synopsis indicated the show will star Tyler Coechlin as Clark Kent and Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, both reprising their roles from Supergirl, as "they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society." A lot of time has passed since the above news, and thankfully, the show has still been moving along in spite of the tumultuous year 2020 has proven to be. In a recent statement provided by The CW, Hoechlin and costume designer Laura Jean Shannon share some new details about Superman's suit--in other words, the show is very much still a reality. Shannon says the suit focuses "on a new neckline and cape to maximize the billowing and movement we all love to see in the books and films that have defined this character for generations. A streamlined muscle structure and updated paint job combined with some dynamic design lines and a sculpted armored belt all took his established custom fabric into a new direction."Continue Reading at GameSpot

First Photos Of Netflix's Cobra Kai Season 3 Revealed

Cobra Kai fans are used to long waits for more from The Karate Kid follow-up series. Now that the series has been freed from YouTube Premium and has a home on Netflix, there's at least some security in knowing when Season 3 finally arrives sometime in January 2021, we know where it will land and that it will be easy enough to watch. To further whet appetites for Season 3, Entertainment Weekly has released the first pics of the upcoming season, and while they aren't the most action-packed shots, they do at least confirm that the season is real and nearly here. Ralph Macchio, who reprises his role as Daniel LaRusso, recently told Conan O'Brien on TBS's Conan a bit more about what to expect from Season 3. According to Macchio, Daniel will be returning to Okinawa, Japan--though what the former All Valley Karate champion is doing there is still a bit of a mystery. However, the fact that Karate Kid II is set in Okinawa may offer a clue of what to expect. "I have been to Okinawa, for some shooting of Cobra Kai season three, which I cannot talk too much about," Macchio said in the interview. "But I can say it dives into the origin of Miyagi-Do Karate. We learn a little bit, some secrets of past history that is new to the audience, and to LaRusso, my character, and we actually went to Okinawa to shoot."Continue Reading at GameSpot
