Remedy Entertainment has announced that Alan Wake 2 has sold 1.3 million copies as of February 2024. In a press release shedding more light on the game's post-launch performance, Remedy said that the sequel sold 1 million units by December 2023 and is now the fastest-selling game released by the developer.
"Alan Wake 2 sold over 50% more copies and over three times more digital copies in its first two months than Control did in its first four months," Remedy explained. "Since its release in 2019, Control has sold over 4 million units, generating net revenue--shareable revenue between Remedy and a publishing partner, excluding taxes and platform fees--of approximately 100 million Euros. A great game can generate excellent long tail sales, and we expect this to be the case with Alan Wake 2 as well."
Interestingly, Alan Wake 2 isn't profitable yet--it launched as a digital-only game with an MSRP of $50 on PC and $60 on consoles in October 2023--but Remedy CEO Tero Virtala explained "the game has already recouped a significant part" of its development and marketing expenses. "We now have two established franchises: Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe. Growing and expanding these franchises will be a key part of our future," Virtala said.Continue Reading at GameSpot
