Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has announced Haunted Chocolatier, his next game. In Haunted Chocolatier, players become the next chocolatier to take over a local chocolate factory and store, which are located inside a haunted castle. Barone put up a blog post on the Haunted Chocolatier website, detailing the new game. "Chocolate represents that which is delightful. The haunted castle represents the allure of the unknown. The ghosts represent the imprint of the past. All of these things are important." Haunted Chocolatier shares the same art style as Stardew Valley, although from the trailer it appears to take place in a larger town with more characters. The trailer also shows the player collecting ingredients and fighting monsters out in the wild, before returning to their home to make chocolate. Hello Games has announced a new Halloween event for No Man's Sky in the form of Expedition Four: Emergence. The seasonal event, which begins today, will feature a new narrative -- the first the game mode has had -- as well as several gameplay features and enhancements. In Expedition Four: Emergence, players will find themselves stranded on a planet called Wasan, which has been “ravaged by dust storms” and “infested with Titan Worms”. Players are tasked with locating the Titan Worm impact sites, destroying Hungering Tendrils and collecting Vile Spawn that’s left behind. Cleansing the planets of “cursed dust” and sandworms will eventually unravel the dark narrative to the player and unlock exclusive rewards along the way. The Call of Duty and Warcraft publisher confirmed it has fired 20 people while it also is trying to pause California's lawsuit due to claims of ethics violations. Activision Blizzard executive vice president for corporate affairs, Fran Townsend, sent an email to staffers this week addressing the latest developments, and this note was shared online. Netflix Added 4.4 Million Subscribers Last Quarter, Surpassing Estimates

It seems sometimes like everyone and their mom has a Netflix subscription, but the streaming giant still has room to grow, it seems, and is continuing to do even better than expected, the company said in a new financial report, which you can check out here. Netflix gained 4.4 million subscribers throughout its third quarter of 2021, far surpassing the estimated 3.84 million goal they'd set out, and expects to add another 8.5 million subscribers in the fourth quarter. Conservative estimates were the result of a "lighter-than-normal content slate" in the first and second quarters of this year, and the company credits the slew of delayed content that has been rolling out for the impressive numbers. The company also announced at the same time that it plans to use new metrics when reporting on viewership. Previously, Netflix used confusing metrics, such as considering an episode of a given show watched after just two minutes of viewing time. Netflix will shift to reporting on viewership by hours watched instead of the number of accounts viewing a title. This changes up the company's top rankings a little; by number of accounts, Extraction is the streaming service's top-ranked title with 99 million viewers over Bird Box's 89 million. By hours viewed, though, Bird Box comes in at 282 million hours viewed, versus 231 million hours for Extraction. This week in Red Dead Online, players who successfully steal the yellow Il Sovrano gemstone will be rewarded with double RDO$ and XP. Rockstar is also adding bonuses to a number of other missions, including Blood Money opportunities and Call to Arms missions, as written in its latest Newswire update. The Il Sovrano heist, which was added as part of the Blood Money update, costs between 15 and 25 Capitale to begin, depending on what difficulty you want to undertake. As in previous weeks, Rockstar is giving players a chance to earn extra Capitale if they're fresh out, with Call to Arms missions rewarding a one-time bonus of Capitale when players survive to certain rounds--5 Capitale for making it to Wave 3, another 5 for surviving to Wave 7, and an extra 10 for reaching Wave 10. Nearly a week after launch, the game has now set a new peak concurrent player record on Steam, blowing past the 700,000 users it had logged in at the same time on day one. According to Steam's own public statistics page, New World recently reached 913,634 peak concurrent players. According to Steam Charts, this is the game's all-time high.
