Saints Row Reboot Trailer Shows Off Gameplay, The New City, And Characters

The Saints Row series is coming back with a reboot that takes players to a brand-new city and a new cast of characters. In a new video, voice actress Bryce Charles and the team at developer Volition discuss the project and reveal gameplay footage for the first time following a CG reveal trailer at Gamescom. Some people were upset over the lack of real gameplay footage in the announcement trailer, and now we're seeing some. Chief creative officer Jim Boone said one of the challenges at the onset of development of the new Saints Row was figuring out how to up the ante in a series known for being over the top. The studio initially looked to its past for inspiration, but this ultimately felt limiting, so the team opted to "zoom out" and forge ahead with a plan to reboot the series instead of making a sequel. The Pokemon TV App features full episodes of the animated show, highlights from competitive matches of both the video games and the Pokemon trading card game, and "junior content" for younger Pokemon fans. Hitman 3's New Gluttony DLC Puts You In A Cape And Has You Kill People In Pig Masks

IO Interactive has announced that the latest installment of its Seven Deadly Sins collection for Hitman 3, titled Gluttony, is launching on August 31. Indulgence is the theme here, and Agent 47 will be making his way through the Chonqing area filled with NPCs in pig masks, carrying out missions for "the Pig" who can't really move around much. The new update will bring the Gluttony Gobble Escalation, the Maximalist Shotgun, Bubble Queen Gum pack, and a new gold-trimmed Profligacy suit for Agent 47. Fortnite Celebrates MLK With In-Game March Through Time Mode

Epic Games and Time Studios (of Time Magazine) have teamed up to present the Fortnite March Through Time, a limited-time mode that offers no combat, building, or anything of the usual sort Fortnite is known for. Playing more like an Assassin's Creed Discovery Tour mode, the Fortnite March Through Time gives players a virtual museum to explore all in celebration of the important work done by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The March Through Time limited-time mode "immerses players in the entirety of Dr. King’s monumental 'I Have A Dream' speech and the history surrounding it," said Epic Games in a blog post. Players who venture into the mode will journey to Washington D.C. circa 1963 where they'll witness recreations of famous landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial and United States National Mall, where the famous speech was delivered by King almost 58 years ago to the day, August 28, 1963. Elden Ring Wins A Gamescom Award But We Didn't See Anything New

This year's Gamescom Opening Night Live was filled with a plethora of exciting reveals, from indies like Devolver Digital's Cult of the Lamb to confirmation that Splitgate has entered Season 0. But what was most surprising--or more aptly, confusing--about the two-hour-long presentation was Elden Ring winning an award. Awards presenter Natascha Becker was sprinkled throughout to announce the winners for various categories, including Best Action Adventure, Indie, and Simulation Game. Elden Ring was nominated for five of the 22 categories, and it walked away with the award for Best Sony PlayStation Game--despite not revealing any new details or gameplay. Ubisoft Announces Plans To Make A Theme Park, Despite Initial Plans Stalling Out

Despite initially stalling out on plans to make Ubisoft-branded theme parks years ago, the Assassin's Creed publisher hasn't given up on this. In fact, the Paris-based company this week announced a partnership with Storyland Studios to create a pitch for a "full-scale Ubisoft theme park." The news comes by way of Theme Park Insider. Storyland Studios boss Ben Thompson said Ubisoft's franchises are "iconic and globally recognizable," making them a good match for a park. Along with a new story and new seasonal activities to explore, Destiny 2's Season of the Lost also includes some new missions that have you chasing some mythical gear. The main one right now is the Tracing the Stars quest, given by the Awoken queen, Mara Sov. After telling a story of a mythical family of kestrels and the powerful artifacts they created, Mara sends you out to attempt to retrieve those artifacts, but it seems as though this quest is going to span quite at least a few weeks of searching. The first step in Tracing the Stars, however, you can complete right now. It requires you to find six "Atlas Skews," or special artifacts, that are scattered around the Dreaming City. The first batch isn't too tough to find if you know the lay of the land, but the skews are often in out-of-the-way places that are easy to miss. Birds Of Prey Black Canary Spin-off Movie In Development For HBO Max

A movie based on the DC character Black Canary is the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jurnee Smollett will reprise the role she played in last year's movie Birds of Prey. The Black Canary movie is in "early development" for a release on Warner's streaming platform HBO Max. It's being written by Misha Green, who was the showrunner and main writer on HBO's Lovecraft Country, which also featured Smollett in the cast. Green is also set to co-write and direct the sequel to Tomb Raider. No further details about Black Canary are available so far. Birds of Prey was released in February last year. While it was seen as a box office disappointment at the time, the pandemic and subsequent closure of theaters only a few weeks later meant that it was ultimately one of 2020's most successful movies. Free Guy Tops US Box Office Chart For Second Week

Free Guy has held onto the top slot in the US box office charts. The Ryan Reynolds-starring Disney movie made $18.8 million in its second weekend on release. As Box Office Mojo notes, the movie only dropped 33.8% from its opening weekend $28.4 million gross, a far less dramatic second weekend fall than other recent Disney releases such as Black Widow and Jungle Cruise. Unlike those movies, Free Guy isn't also available as a Premium Access title on Disney+, meaning that a theater visit is the only way to see it right now. Free Guy's US gross stands at $58.8 million, bringing its worldwide total to $111.9 million. The week's highest new entry was Pat Patrol: The Movie, at No.2. The big-screen version of Nickelodeon's popular animated kids show made $13 million in its first three days. It's time for the biggest party of the summer. WWE's 2021 Summerslam PPV is coming to you from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show will feature a live audience, so prepare yourself for people singing along to Edge's theme music during his entrance. As the PPV airs, you can check out live match results, along with our thoughts and notes about what unfolds during the event (including any surprises WWE may reveal). Summerslam will see return matches for two wrestling superstars: Goldberg and John Cena. CM Punk Finally Debuts On AEW Rampage

Wrestling's worst-kept secret is finally out. Following so many reports and rumors, and never a denial by anyone associated with AEW, former WWE Champion and UFC fighter CM Punk has debuted with the company. As expected, Punk made his first appearance on AEW's "The First Dance" episode of Rampage, broadcasting live from Chicago, Illinois. In Punk's inaugural AEW appearance, he shocked the world in the way only he can. Walking to the ring to his signature song, "Cult of Personality" by Living Colour, Punk got easily the biggest crowd reaction in AEW history. What else would you expect from the ultimate hometown hero? When he finally took a microphone, he took a few veiled shots at WWE and claimed that he's not going anywhere. He also harkened back to his WWE promos, claiming everyone in the audience was getting a free ice cream car on their way out of the arena. PlayStation Exclusive Wild Has Reportedly Been Canceled

The PlayStation 4 exclusive, Wild, has reportedly been canceled. First spotted by VGC, Grubb said on his Giant Bomb series Grubbsnax yesterday that Wild Sheep Studio has stopped working on the project, several months after former studio head Michel Ancel retired from the games industry. Ancel previously worked on titles like Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil. "I can confirm that game is fully done. There is no Wild anymore… Wild is dead," explained Grubb. He notes that he believes Ancel just abandoned the project and as a result, it got shuttered. Grubb said, "The team that was working on it was looking at maybe trying to stay together and work on other projects." Grubb adds that he doesn't know what exactly had happened. Destiny 2 Season 15 Weapon Tuning Notes Detail Infinite Ammo For Primaries, Fusion Rifle Boost

Destiny 2's Season of the Splicer is wrapping up, and Bungie is preparing to reveal the new season next week. While we know very little about the next season's content right now, Bungie has given us a taste of some of the changes to come to gameplay with tuning notes about all of the big (and little) tweaks to the game's weapons. Perhaps the most immediately obvious change will be to primary weapons. In an effort to eliminate the frustration that can currently come from running out of ammo in a PvP or PvE encounter, Bungie is implementing infinite ammo for all primary weapons. Alongside this, Bungie is also buffing the Inertia Override perk to compensate for fewer ammo bricks on the ground. Destiny fans have speculated that this change was on its way, such as in this post which correctly guessed the change two weeks ahead of time. The developer is also rolling out its second attempt to correct some issues that arose from its implementation of max power levels on some weapons. Last year, Bungie rolled out this power cap in order to give it a tool to both restrain the total number of usable PvE weapons and to refresh the relevant arsenal of guns in any given season. Some deprecated weapons were "reissued" with higher power limits, but many players chafed at having to seek their favorite perk combinations all over again. Bungie's original solution was to replace all of the perks on the reissued weapons, but this also didn't work, as some sets of perks had become strongly identified with particular weapons. New PvP FPS Game From Industry Veterans Releases First Artwork

Mountaintop Studios, a new studio co-founded by Oculus co-founder Nate Mitchell and staffed with alumni from some of the industry's biggest companies, has released the first artwork from its as-yet unannounced debut game. The game is set to be a PvP FPS and is currently untitled. The artwork shows a futuristic-looking street corner featuring a row of shops fronting onto a shipping port. A number of hovering cargo ships dot the sky, while a streetlight plays host to two seagulls. A sign for a shop named "Bots N Bolts" hints that robots are a common part of life in this world, but everything else about the new IP is up for speculation. Mountaintop Studios is currently made up of 35 developers who are veterans of studios including Epic, Blizzard, Naughty Dog, Respawn, Infinity Ward, Ubisoft, Raven, Turtle Rock, Double Fine, PopCap, and Oculus. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and Pokemon Legends: Arceus will be compatible with Pokemon Home, but not at launch. Near the end of the latest Pokemon Presents stream, The Pokemon Company confirmed that support for the upcoming Switch games will be added to Pokemon Home sometime in 2022. Once support has been implemented, you'll be able to transfer Pokemon you caught in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and Pokemon Legends: Arceus and store them in Pokemon Home. Beyond that, however, details are scant. It remains unclear if transfers will be one-way, as they are with Pokemon Go, or if you'll be able to bring compatible Pokemon you've caught in other games from Home into Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl or Legends. Like Pokemon Bank for 3DS, Pokemon Home is a cloud service that lets you store Pokemon you've caught in different games in one place and move them between titles. The service has free and paid plans. I had the opportunity to play an early take on the new Simpsons cabinet to get an idea of what to expect from Arcade1Up's next release, and came away largely impressed. First and foremost, it's important to note again that this prototype of the Simpsons cabinet was unfinished. The artwork, which you can see in the photos below, has not been finalized, and the cabinet's final shape has slightly changed. Like several other games from the previous generation of console gaming, The Elder Scrolls Online is getting an enhanced edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. As part of the Waking Flame DLC, dynamic resolution scaling for performance mode on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 will be enabled, giving the game a visual performance of between 1080p-2160p and 60fps on the Xbox Series X and PS5, while the Xbox Series S will render the game at 1080p resolution and the same frame-rate. "As part of the Waking Flame DLC, we are enabling dynamic resolution scaling for performance mode on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, which steps resolutions up and down based on performance metrics," lead graphics engineer Alex Tardif explained in a press statement. "For example, we expect our players on Series X to be running at or very close to 4K at 60fps in performance mode in most situations. On the flip side, the headroom for dropping to as low as 1080p should further prevent dropped frames in high-intensity situations, such as large Cyrodiil battles and certain trial and dungeon boss fights." In an employee spotlight, senior software engineer Leonard Holman talked about working with Halo Infinite's SlipSpace engine and how it marries the series' classic gameplay with modern technology. "SlipSpace really is a mystical beast; it walks this fine line of intimidating futuristic technology married to little gems of classic gameplay and subtly authentic legacy behaviors," Holman said. "I love that the Engineering team has embraced the modern features of the C++ language. It’s an exciting time to be a C++ developer, at least I think so." Microsoft's latest ID@Xbox showcase dropped a number of new game announcements including Lightyear Frontier, an open world farming exploration game that mixes agriculture with mechs on an alien planet. The game from Swedish studio Frame Break sees players exploring and farming on an alien planet, either solo or co-op with up to three other players. Lightyear Frontier mixes classic farming features with crafting, resource management, and base building, with players using their farmed resources to upgrade their mechas. The souped-up machines can be used both to unlock new areas for exploration and to craft, plant, and harvest crops and resources. While Lightyear Frontier won't include any deadly threats to the player character, it will involve protecting crops your crops and base from dangers including environmental and weather hazards. The latest issue of Batman: Urban Legends includes a pretty major development for the DC Comics universe. In it, Tim Drake--one of the young wards Bruce Wayne has enlisted as Robin over the years--came out as bisexual. This comes less than two months after Disney+'s Loki series confirmed the titular character was both genderfluid and bisexual. Batman: Urban Legends is an anthology series, with each issue containing multiple stories. In issue 4, the Tim Drake: Sum of Our Parts story by writer Meghan Fitzmartin, artist Belén Ortega, colorist Alejandro Sánchez, and letterer Pat Brosseau began. In it, Tim reunited with a friend named Bernard. As they share a meal, a villain attacks the diner they're in and kidnaps Bernard. Bam Margera Is Suing Johnny Knoxville Over Getting Fired From Jackass Forever

Amid controversy surrounding his lack of involvement in the new Jackass movie, Bam Margera has officially filed a lawsuit against the movie's producers and star Johnny Knoxville. The suit, which also names Jackass co-creator Spike Jonze, alleges that he was wrongfully terminated from the upcoming fourth movie, Jackass Forever. Variety has the story and all the details. Margera starred in the previous Jackass movies and TV shows. He was let go from Jackass Forever last year after he supposedly violated his "wellness agreement" after he tested positive for Adderall. The lawsuit alleges that Knoxville, Jonze, and director Jeffrey Tremaine pressured Margera to sign the agreement while he was in rehab in 2019 and that he didn't have the chance to have a lawyer look it over. With the finals now over, the top three teams have emerged, each one bringing to life a video game that earned them top marks with the judges. While previous WCS events had been held in-person in Nagoya, Japan, this year adopted a safer method as participants were required to film video segments that showed off their costumes. 30 countries and one observer nation took part, and the event culminated with Elffi Cosplay and Calssara being declared the grand winners of the World Cosplay Summit 2021 Video Division. Super Nintendo World Merch Now On Sale At Universal Studios Hollywood

While the Super Nintendo World attraction is not yet open at Universal Studios Hollywood in California, the park has begun to sell merchandise for it. Nintendo announced on Friday that Super Nintendo World-themed items can now be purchased at the store inside the park. The items--which include Mario and Yoshi plushies, drawstring bags, hats, t-shirts, boxers, pins, and lots more--will be available only for a limited time, according to Nintendo. Star Stephen Lang On The Avatar 5 Script -- "I Was Weeping"

Actor Stephen Lang returns to play the villain in the upcoming Avatar movie sequels, and now he's shared a little more insight on the films. Speaking to Collider, Lang said he became overwhelmed with emotion when he finished reading the script for the final one, Avatar 5. "When I finished the last script, I was weeping. I just thought it was so beautiful. Yeah, the final script because he's telling a great, great story, an original story, a beautiful, beautiful story, and I was just incredibly moved by it," Lang said. "I hope and I trust and believe that audiences will be, too, because one of the things that he does really, really well is he moves it from the page to the stage in a way that that is very literal. Project Nomad, An Open-World Power Rangers Game Pitch, Shown Off

Jason Bischoff, formerly the director of global consumer products at Saban Brands and global franchise director at Hasbro, has revealed a pitch for an open-world AAA Power Rangers game that he was trying to successfully get off the ground around 2016. It was called Project Nomad. Bischoff tried to pitch the game to Saban's business development department as an ambitious, open-world co-op adventure that captured the energy, teamwork, lore, and history of the iconic Power Rangers franchise. He described it as basically the Power Rangers version of WB's upcoming Gotham Knights. The game's story would have taken place on Eltar, Zordon's home planet. With the planet under occupation, it was up to different Power Rangers scattered across the galaxy to to free it. Bischoff, along with some artists such as Jarold Sng, Carlos Dattoli and Lineage Studios, crafted the pitch further and even created some concept art for Project Nomad.
