Mario Kart has been one of Nintendo's most successful franchises ever, but there was another Nintendo kart racing game that doesn't get enough love: Diddy Kong Racing. Its blend of "traditional" kart action with flying segments and branching paths created a hectic and less-predictable racer than its more popular cousin, and it opened up races to strategic considerations that aren't possible in a standard Mario Kart match. Polish independent studio Far From Home has just announced its first project with a gorgeous teaser. The game, called Forever Skies, is a first person action survival game, set on an uninhabitable, post-apocalyptic version of Earth, IGN reports. Far From Home is an independent Polish game studio, founded by industry veterans whose titles include games like Chernobylite, The Medium, Dying Light, Divinity: Original Sin, and Dead Island. The new studio aims to produce next-gen "AA+" games, while staying independent and working with a small team. The studio currently consists of 23 developers, many of them having previously worked on big-name AAA titles. Razer Removes "N95-Grade" Claims From RGB Zephyr Mask

Last week Razer announced the Zephyr Pro, an upgrade that adds voice amplification to its base RGB Zephyr mask. The new announcement prompted criticism that Razer was overstating the amount of protection the cyberpunk-style masks offered, leading the company to remove claims that the mask had "N65-grade" filters, The Verge reports. While Razer never said the mask itself was N95 rated, its product page repeatedly referred to the mask's replaceable filters as "N95-grade." This claim was based on the filter's 99 percent bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE), which it compared to PPE devices like respirators and surgical masks. These references have now been removed, while the product page refers to the filters as "air purification filters," saying only that they are "FDA-registered and lab-tested for 99% BFE." YouTuber Creates PS5 Controller Adapter For One-Handed Play

Before the PS5 launched Sony bragged about the console's numerous accessibility features. But while the console comes with a built-in screen reader and a voice dictation system, it doesn't do anything for players who can't use a typical DualSense controller. To remedy that issue, YouTuber Akaki Kuumeri has created an adapter that straps right onto the bulky controller, letting players use all of its inputs with just one hand. The accessory, which Kuumeri 3D printed, snaps onto the DualSense controller, placing a rubber foot right below it and a grip on the left thumbstick, which is reserved for moving around in most games. A video showing the accessory in action opens with Kuumeri playing Rocket League with just a single hand, driving the car by moving the thumbstick via the rubber foot placed on his thigh. With his simple accessory, players can move the DualSense's left joystick by moving the entire controller, provided that the adapter's rubber foot is on a stable surface. Grand Theft Auto company Take-Two is acquiring FarmVille company Zynga for $12.7 billion, the company announced on Monday morning. This is a combined cash and stock deal. Importantly, the deal has not closed, and there is a "go-shop" provision whereby Zynga has 45 days to look for a better deal with a different company. Many may recall how Take-Two was originally lined up to acquire Codemasters before EA came in and bought the company instead. Valve's PC store and platform Steam has set a new concurrent player record. The platform exceeded 28 million concurrent users today, January 9, to set a new all-time high. The numbers were disclosed on Steam's public statistics page. The new record is 28,230,661. Analyst Daniel Ahmad observed that Steam saw "strong growth" for concurrent users in 2020 due to the pandemic. This growth has only continued since then. Netflix and UCP are reportedly co-developing a new anime adaptation of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series does not yet have a series order, and there are no details yet regarding a hopeful premiere date. Creator Bryan Lee O'Malley will write and executive produce with BenDavid Grabinski, the showrunner behind the Nickelodeon revival of Are You Afraid of the Dark? If the show moves forward, the pair will showrun the series together. Co-developing studio UCP is the division of Universal Studio Group behind The Umbrella Academy and Chucky. Ahead of its release later this month, Ubisoft has released a new trailer for cooperative multiplayer shooter Rainbow Six Extraction, breaking down some of the game's establishing lore. The trailer kicks off with some striking imagery of the effect the Chimera parasite has had globally, with the black tendrils of the threat decapitating the statue of liberty. In response, the Rainbow Six team has established a new unit, called React, to go out into the field and study the parasite and its evolving threat. To acquire those perks, you'll need to find a Matter Compiler, which appears in different places across the game's several episodes. Here's what you need to know about the Matter Compiler and what kind of perks you can expect to unlock with it. The Matter Compiler is a unique sci-fi device that you'll find in different places across every level of The Anacrusis. The first one you'll find is right outside the safe room's locked doors, and serves as the introduction to the device and its benefits. You'll need to activate it, and after a few seconds, you'll be given a trio of abilities to add to your hero's arsenal. The Matter Compiler grants perks to everyone in your team individually, and though you can't pick from the game's full list of 39 perks whenever you encounter a Matter Compiler, you'll always be able to pick one of three randomly presented buffs to carry with you through the end of the episode.Gallery That means that even though you can't reliably predict which perks you'll be presented with and able to select from, you'll always have some say in shaping the survivor that suits you. Horizon Forbidden West Trailer Shows Off The Game's Tribes And Gorgeous Environments

Sony's next big exclusive, Horizon Forbidden West, releases in February, and a new trailer for the PS4 and PS5 title shows off more of the people and tribes that inhabit its world. Players will encounter tribes of people doing all sorts of jobs and enjoying their lives by raising a drink with friends. Other tribes are more guarded--literally--and still others sing songs to try to heal their lands that have been overtaken by blights. YouTube TV Drops ESPN And 17 Other Channels After Negotiations With Disney Fail

In a big shake-up, YouTube TV is losing ESPN and other Disney-owned channels due to failed contract negotiations with Disney. In total, 18 of these Disney-owned channels--which also include National Geographic and Disney Channel--have now been removed. The price of YouTube TV is going down. YouTube TV made the announcement overnight Eastern Time, saying in a statement to subscribers, "We have held good faith negotiations with Disney for several months. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we were unable to reach an equitable agreement before our existing one expired." In Deathloop, there's a lot to learn in and around Fia's bunker, but if you go in guns-blazing or otherwise set her off, she'll hit the panic button and cause an explosion, killing everyone. Therefore, you'll want to disarm the reactor stealthily, and that's a complicated process--but it wouldn't be Deathloop if it were simple, would it? Here's how to disarm the reactor on Fristad Rock. Deathloop: How to disarm the reactor in Fia's bunker You'll want to start off by heading to Fristad Rock at noon. Fia will be there in her bunker at that time, which means the doors will be unlocked for you to get in. It also means the place is crawling with Eternalists, so be very careful. You also won't want to be so direct, as you'll need a specific item with you, though if you play this level with the Aether Slab and either the Shift Slab or the double-jump Trinket, you can skip the next part, which details where to find a battery. You won't need it if you have those items. If you do need the battery, head out of the tunnels and under the bright, fallen electronic sign to your right. Continue along the path, avoiding or disarming traps along the way, including landmines and tripwires. Take a left up the hill to the Transmission Post--the circular stone building. Avoid the guards inside and descend the cliffside, dodging (or killing, it's up to you) more Eternalists outside the bunker's alternate entrance. Although the wait is nearly over, remember to still be careful when looking for or accidentally encountering Spider-Man: No Way Home content online if you care about spoilers--somehow, substantial portions of the film have already been leaked online, which Sony has been moving quickly to stamp out. Spider-Man: No Way Home is directed by Jon Watts, who helmed both the previous MCU Spidey movies. Tom Holland returns as Peter, with Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Jon Favreau as "Happy" Hogan, Marisa Tomei as May, and Benedict Wong as Wong. As of this writing, the movie has 44 critics giving an aggregate score of 71 on Metacritic. Rotten Tomatoes, meanwhile has 158 reviews netting it a much more impressive 95% fresh. FFXIV Sales Suspended Due To Server Congestion

Since FFXIV Endwalker's release, long queues to even get into the game's servers have been a headache for both players and devs. In response to the long wait times, Square Enix released another announcement with what steps it's taking to address the congestion. Unexpectedly, Square Enix will now temporarily suspend the sales of both Final Fantasy 14's base game and the complete edition. Free trial registration for new accounts will also be put on hold, as well as new advertisements. It's unknown how long the policy will last for, but the company will "continue to monitor the situation as [they] consider the timing around resuming sales."
