There is no co-op in Lies of P, but you can summon spectres Whereas many Soulslike games' summoning methods are surprisingly cryptic, Lies of P simplifies the process quite a lot. You can only summon a spectre before boss fights to assist you with that single fight--meaning that they'll disappear once either they or the boss dies. In order to summon one of these spectres, you'll need to use a Star Fragment on the glowing blue chalice that can always be found right outside of any boss arena. In a post on Twitter/X from PlayStation UK, a video shows the titular P reaching out to pet a cat on a table. As his hand gets closer, the cat hisses. Game director Stig Asmussen, known for his work on God Of War and later EA's Star Wars Jedi games, has announced that he will be leaving Respawn to pursue other opportunities, Bloomberg reports. Under his leadership, the single-player Star Wars Jedi titles helped to revitalise EA's slate of Star Wars games, with both games achieving critical and commercial success. "After careful thought and consideration, Stig Asmussen has decided to leave Respawn to pursue other adventures, and we wish him the best of luck," an EA spokesperson said on the announcement. "Veteran Respawn leaders will be stepping up to guide the team as they continue their work on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor." Ubisoft's XDefiant may not have an official release date yet, but it could be very close to release. In a new blog post, executive producer Mark Rubin has pulled back the curtain on what goes into a game's release, explaining exactly where XDefiant is at in that process. The blog goes into some detail on the submission process required to get games onto platforms like PlayStation or Xbox, with Rubin warning that "sometimes full transparency is like drinking from a firehose so hope you all are thirsty!" Put simply, developers are required to submit a copy of their game to parties like Xbox and Sony, so their teams can check that the game is working properly from a platform perspective. Persona 5 Tactica Both Celebrates And Reinvigorates P5's Combat, Adding More Strategy And Adorable Art

The Persona series is no stranger to spin-off games. You could even argue spin-offs are in its DNA, as the property itself began as a spin-off to developer Atlus' long-running Shin Megami Tensei series. In the nearly 30 years since then, the studio has explored a handful of different genres using the series' memorable characters and storylines. But while we've seen our protagonists and their ragtag band of misfits duke it out, dance all night, dungeon-crawl, and take on hordes of enemies in a Musou-style hack-and-slash, we've yet to see them venture onto the gridded field of a tactics-style game. Persona 5 Tactica, however, is here to remedy that. I recently got the chance to play about half an hour of Persona 5 Tactica, and in that short time, I was sold on Atlus' vision for a strategy RPG. Gameplay was not only a lot of fun but felt like such a natural extension of the series. I found myself repeatedly impressed by how well thought out its tactical challenges were and how much of the original game's spirit came through in its style and mechanics. Whereas many spin-off titles can feel like pseudo-experimental ways for a studio to rake in more cash using an established IP, I walked away from Persona 5 Tactica feeling confident the game can justify bringing back the Phantom Thieves for another round of vigilante justice. In Persona 5 Tactica, you get the chance to experience a new Phantom Thieves' story as the gang gets pulled into some supernatural drama following the disappearance of a National Diet member. While my time with the game didn't dig too deep into its background politics, it's clear something is up. The team then finds themselves not in the Metaverse--the name given to the cerebral universe they take on baddies in in Persona 5--but rather a new, alternate world they've yet to nail down. In this world (or at least in this portion of the world), the charming-yet-short-tempered Lady Marie rules with an iron first and an army of Legionaries. Joker and the team quickly find themselves on the outs with this Queen-of-Hearts-esque dictator, and join up with a revolutionary named Erina to help take her down.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Starfield Surpasses Skyrim's Concurrent Player Record On Steam

Dragons apparently can't compete with the final frontier, as Starfield has eclipsed Skyrim's concurrent player record on Steam. The space-RPG saw almost 40,000 more people Sunday than The Elder Scrolls V had at its peak over 12 years ago. VGC reported that Starfield hit 330,723 players September 10, per SteamDB. That easily tops Skyrim's peak of 287,411 people back when the game launched in 2011. However, this isn't a Bethesda Game Studios record on Steam, as Fallout 4 saw over 470,000 players eight years ago. Keep in mind for Starfield that Steam players paid for the full game, since those numbers don't include Game Pass subscribers. In fact, a lot of people spent a premium to check out Starfield early on Steam. Though her own adventures continue on Disney+, Ahsoka Tano is preparing to join another corner of the Star Wars universe. As announced at Destination D23 in Florida, the character will soon be joining the ranks of the Star Tours ride at Disney parks around the world in spring 2024. It remains to be seen how much Ahsoka will be included, or even how it will be done. Details weren't revealed during the panel, so it remains to be seen if Rosario Dawson, who plays Ahsoka on the Disney+ series, will reprise the role. This comes as both Ahsoka and General Hera Syndulla have been added to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland in California. One Piece Season 2 Could Be Ready In A Year, If Renewed

Netflix's One Piece live action adaptation has become a surprise hit since it finished airing, though it hasn't yet been renewed for a second season. The producers say scripts for season 2 are already done, and the next season could be ready to air 12 to 18 months after production starts. Though live action anime adaptations have almost as bad a track record as video game movies, One Piece has been the surprising exception, begging the question of where the series goes from here. However, it seems some physical copies have made their way into the wild already, so take this post as fair warning: There are spoilers abound. A Reddit post titled "Mortal Kombat 1 switch fps [sic]" appeared on the official Mortal Kombat subreddit on the evening of September 5, which showed the opening cutscene from the game's campaign on a handheld Switch console. The same user who posted the video also posted screenshots of the character select screen, as well as the Kameo Fighter select screen, on a separate subreddit (beware of spoilers!) dedicated to MK leaks. Baldur's Gate 3's Biggest Shortcoming Is Delivering A Purely Evil Experience

Picture this: You see a crowd milling about, entertained by a character playing a musical instrument, all while another party member pickpockets them. Dastardly, right? In another instance, you might whisper sweet nothings to a companion, only to sleep with someone else so you can break your other companion's heart. Sounds vile, no? Indeed, Baldur's Gate 3 offers many opportunities for misdeeds and general assholery. Unfortunately, it also fails to deliver on a purely evil experience, at least one where you aren't severely punished. Don't get me wrong: Baldur's Gate 3 is an amazing game--the reactivity and multiple outcomes are overwhelming and impressive. Well-written dialogue, character personalities, and memorable quests kept me engaged for roughly 270 hours, from early access until the present. Although I did start out as an evil character (via the Dark Urge origin), I approached the campaign as a redemption arc of sorts. With countless backups for save-scumming, I was able to check different results based on key decisions throughout the campaign. That's when I realized how being purely evil in Baldur's Gate 3 didn’t just mean dealing with the harsher consequences of my actions, but also how there’s very little to gain in return. In effect, what could’ve been an interesting or compelling role-playing hook leads to a rather unrewarding conclusion. Delta Force Reboot Officially Confirmed, More Details To Be Revealed At Gamescom

After being missing in action for several years, Delta Force is returning to duty in a new game for PC, consoles, and mobile phones. Developed by TiMi Studio Group--the studio behind Call of Duty Mobile--this new incarnation of Delta Force was teased in a short trailer alongside confirmation that more details will be revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Like the original games, Delta Force will have both a single-player campaign and large-scale multiplayer. For its campaign, producer Shadow Guo explained to IGN that it's inspired by the film Black Hawk Down and that the development team has "extensively studied the movie and delved into the historical context respectfully." Starfield File Size Revealed, And It's Very Big

With preloading for Starfield beginning today, August 17, the game's file sizes have been revealed--and as you might have guessed, the game carries a hefty install size. On Xbox, the game clocks in at about 126GB. On PC, Starfield will take up around 140GB of space. This is pretty large, so it's good news that fans are able to preload ahead of launch so they can jump it right when the game unlocks. The current record sits at just below eight minutes, with runner Mae (who also managed to beat the game in a hair over 10 minutes) achieving the feat but utilizing some clutch mage skills and the steely determination to get to bed in the evening as quickly as possible. The run, which you can see here, shows Mae guiding their level one human wizard through the game's prologue and avoiding as much combat as possible, making intelligent use of Enhanced Leap to get around skirmishes and keep pushing for glory. Said glory is an introduction to Lae'zel, which happens near the end of the run and during the only forced combat scenario. Mae uses this to their advantage too, tricking one of the tieflings in the Grove to bow down to Lae'zel.
